Indeed. Asexuality is a nice fuzzy grey spectrum, ranging from "no libido", to "raging antisexual", and everything between.

The reasons and feelings about sex held by asexual people are as varied as the people that hold them.

The same is true for any other sexual identity.

I'm curious as to what they masturbate to

"To?"

Since when was a focus object required?

That's what I asked. :)

As far as I can tell, it being physically pleasurable is more than enough as-is.

Just saying asexual isn't a very good word for someone that gets sexual release in any way. Being interested in masturbation but not sex with a partner would be more like autosexual or something.

It could be argued as not really a sexual experience for them, more like a purely physical one, if that makes any sense.

Sex can be purely physical.

Exactly. To them, it might be more like a really good massage. I'm not exactly the best one to explain this, as I've never felt the urge, but it's not as contradictory as it may seem.

Again, there are reasons to masturbate besides "ooh, aaah, I have NEEEEEDS!"

I put those down 2 pages ago.  They are kinda squicky, so I don't want to repeat it.
The act of masturbation does not require "desire", nor does it innately imply "release".

There are any number of reasons to do it. It being a pleasurable experience in and of itself is one. The assertion that the act requires lustful thoughts is silly. Does popping your knuckles require lust or desire? if you don't experience sexual desire, the act does not have meaning in that context. Just like popping knuckles.

What I am saying here:

If you went to another world, where popping your knuckles popularly meant you were seeking sexual release, and you popped your knuckles just because it feels good while you were there, are the aliens justified in saying you are a closet knucklesexual?

Think carefully.

Is this one of those conversations Japa doesn't want to see? Because seriously, you don't mess with the Japa.

If you have sex just to satisfy your partner rather than feeling any desire for it, it doesn't mean you're sexually attracted to them.

If you have sex you're not asexual. In general, what people think is mostly irrelevant, because people don't know what exactly they think most of the time, what really matters is what they do.

If a closet homosexual has sex with women in an attempt to surpress their orientation, does that make them heterosexual? Their not acting in an outwardly homosexual way, but by your definition then yes, they would be hetero.

Yes, albeit unhappily hetero.

Sexual orientation describes the way a person THINKS and FEELS, not what they do. What they do is influenced by their inclination. In this case what they think is the only thing that is relevant.
