((I thought this was political gulag, not colonisation :P))
(Yeah, basically.  You're all convicts of the military!  In order to maintain public image, rather than discharge you they sent you to some random planet they don't care about.  This one's a deathtrap.  I don't have any problem with characters having signed up for this job, though.  If you wanted to keep your current backstories.  =p)
Oh.
...Time to retcon about half the dialogue between Carl and Selina into oblivion. :(

Still. It was at a very bad place as far as preparations go. We were given a low chance of setting up a real colony, and a high chance of dying, but they also sent us a lot of expensive equipment.

((Expensive? They would likely have thousands more of every object we took with us manufactured in a minute. Interstellar empires have that kind of industrial capacity.))

((Yes, but there's no reason to give us that much if they're sending us to die--especially with the considerations Cado mentioned--and no reason to send us that little if they want an actual colony.))

((It's kinda a win-win situation. If we get a base up, that's great, they can start up full colonisation of the world. If not, dead dissidents. :P ))

(Out of 4 droppods, 1 landed successfully, 1 was mostly destroyed on landing, and the other 2 collided during atmospheric reentry and are presumed destroyed (but you can go find out!).  Your tech is standard issue gear purchased with your characters' own wages.  The military truly doesn't care about the wasted resources they're spending on you because the public image they maintain through doing so brings it a much larger amount through public support.)

(Most likely.  Won't kill off a waitlisted player through a failed droppod; whoever is being added will survive the landing.)

((Alright. Since we're waiting for the GM to says what happens while we wait for the armor to get fixed, let's try fixing up those conversations with Selina. By which I mean make a new one that could fit in most anywhere, although probably during last evening's hike or while the armor is repaired this morning.))

"Um...Selina? I hope you don't mind me prying, but...why were you sent here? You don't exactly seem like the kind to be sent to prison."

(It can be for any reason, and your characters don't even have to have done any crimes!  It could just be that you got on a commanding officer's nerves and they abused the system to charge you with a crime that either you didn't do or that never happened in the first place.)

(Also, working on the next update at the moment.)

(I finally figured out how I wanted to explain how the Droids work and why they don't function as combatants!  Previous explanation was completely wrong from a technical standpoint!)

Carl hunkers down and begins fiddling with the Droids, tinkering with the settings to see if he can screw with the programming to allow him a more malleable design approach with it.  After almost an hour of work, he's gotten to the point where he's confident in the programming, and then configures a pattern in which he hopes will repair the armour.

Accepting the order, the Droid then starts pushing the armour to a level section of ground.  It's actually quite cute, watching the thing slowly push against it until the armour tips over, then back up just a little to get a better angle on the armour, then trying again.  As it only has a little way to go, Carl is satisfied with watching this process, before it finally settles itself with the armour in front of it.  Except that it doesn't do what Carl expected; instead, it roamed towards the treeline, and starts cutting away at the tree for a minute.

Before Carl can get to the Droid and interrupt it, it has returned to the armour and has begun cutting small lines in the armour.  After cutting several lines, it moves to the hatch that had been cut off the droppod and begins cutting that.  Carl, now having figured out what the Droid is doing, feels confident in just watching despite his comrades being thoroughly confused.  It spends nearly 15 minutes cutting away at the droppod before returning to the armour and using a different coloured laser.  The crew watch as the Droid is essentially spraying metal material into the grooves it had cut and then sealing that material with resin it had extracted from the tree.  By the time it's finished, it has done such a fantastic job with Ms Martin's armour that the group estimates its actually more durable than its original specifications.

One hour has passed.  If you wish to repair the other sets of armour, it will take 1 more hour; less time is required because the Droid already has most of the material it needs.  It will, however, require a separate intelligence check for each armour; a failed check CAN result in doing irreparable damage to the armour, which would lower the DR value.

Ms Martin's Armour is now at 14!

(Also, for the record, all the creatures fought so far have been of bug-like appearance.  GWG, expect a PM with a basic description of how the Droids work, and then you can embellish it or whatnot for describing to everyone else.)

The bugs are out again.  They're hopping all over everything, and Ms Martin, who hasn't been wearing her armour, constantly has to attack the bugs to avoid being bit.
