We do, but right now our stone stockpile is full of this unappealing brown stuff. Don't get me wrong, schist would be perfect if we were in a black sand desert for our stone stuff. But we aren't, and it looks awful against the grass and trees.

Yes, I am putting aesthetics over function because I didn't expect the force event script to work.

I'd rather have a nice looking fortress then a shitstone citadel.

Hey, a citadel is a citadel, even if it is made of shitstone.  Smooth and engrave it and see how many people other than the overseers will care :P

And are we contemplating actually building a citadel?  I'm scared that that is an under-taking we'd better leave until later.  Megaprojects seem a little less important with less meatbags workers to throw at it.

Can't engrave constructions, so unless in the far future we decide to obliterate all the soil...

And we're humans, so we can't really do that..

Actually we could, we'd just need to irrigate some stone. But the amount of miners and masons/carpenters (gotta fill that empty space with something after all,) we need for such a project is far greater than we can hope to acquire.

I keep forgetting you can't engrave constructions, damned things.  Oh well, at least by that time we'd have "Finely Constructed Floors," or a waterfall generator or something.

My preference is to use wood for floors and some ceilings and stone for walls. Any shade of grey stone does it for me as long as I only use one colour in a building.

Same here, had to make a compromise though since we ran out of rhyolite blocks for the foundry.

We could set up a small atom smasher to destroy the brown rock if it bothers you that much to have it around. Or turn it all into mugs or something.

Whoever had it being mined is to blame. Dunno what drove them to mine a huge swathe of it.
