I think its a little sudden to just start up a theater, lets try and introduce the prince to the fine arts first. to me it feels pretty 'out of character' to just get into owning a theater and I would prefer a little more build up to such a defining characteristic. (we're still young, still plenty of time to find our way in the world)

so yeah like I said before, I prefer the carrot over the stick when it comes to dealing with people that sold out (they did give us the share they owed us. its not like they were total dicks about it)
and to the entire theater thing, lets strive to introduce ourselves to the scene before making any big decisions about it.

so... lets go immerse ourselves into the 'arts'.

+1 nobles like art maybe we can find some who like song and dance in court ask around their for some i say. An yeagh i like the "not beat up our countrymen" for finding a new partnership thing. We still have assets and with a lead into this merchant faction in our lands i say we'll be alright.

We don't really have to understand art, we just need to pay someone else who does. It's not like we'd want to directly manage a theater anyways.

Ya, but having noble Friends come could help compete against other theater's right?

Come again?

Ok ummmm

The prince, the count, the duchesse, and a baron are all famous "art enthusiasts" who everyone know will go to the princes theatre. Peasant's can still come in and see their lords and ladies while looking at a play. can you copy?

So... yeah, I guess I can copy. Ha ha, that was a feeble attempt at humor. I'm gonna go die now.

Seriously, I'm assuming you mean... no, sorry, I don't understand.
Why would they want to see us? I don't... just... I'm gonna let you talk about this with someone else or something. I just don't...

Sorry.

But... we aren't Ahnold. Realistically, we're lucky if the majority of peasants know what we vaguely look like.
Plays were definitely a more... err...
Shakespeare was much more like Larry the Cable guy than he was like Spielberg.

True but that's why we need other nobles to come. Plus this is less about money as it is about creating a public image of nobility, zeal, and confidence. We might learn powerful flame ball trowing magic but the people in the end are the ones to fight for us and die for us.

It's the same with the other nobles.

Going to a play won't get us a reputation of nobility and zeal. Going to church will do that. Mixing with the peasants will perhaps get them to think of us as ordinary people, just like them. Which, incidentally, is not what we want (remember, this isn't modern politics, peasants are used to being lorded over).
On the other hand, nobles would also start to see us as more ordinary. Which is also a bad thing, for what I think are fairly obvious reasons.

But, I am kinda making assumptions based on the real world here. Whatever the GM says goes, obviously, so if he agrees your logic makes more sense then I think you have a good idea.

I was embarrassed with the comment below. Thank you for making feel insecure.

I think that would be more articulate with commas. However, I'm just going to smile and nod, because it's probably just me.

Raynor Casar, Royal Prince of Analysse, popular claimant on the future crown.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ideas swirl in your head. Trading unions, guilds, the fine arts, mercanary companies; these are all things that you have little experience in, but have ideas of how to profit from. Still, juggling so many business matters would be a prospect well beyond your short years and little experience, even with the keen mind and raw charisma you possess.
You will need to narrow down some of these options, though in the mean time you can certainly look into them, and on the morrow you will definitely have to pull some strings and find out what this nonsense of buying into your partnerships is about. The next few days are going to be very busy indeed. After having a servant help you remove your armor and undress, you collapse into bed, and dream some mildly unpleasant dreams.

The next day you launch into activity, the very first sliver of your day ensures your appearance is impeccable. You bathe thoroughly for the first time in about three months, and your nose is grateful for the attention. Then you dress in the finest clothes of the current style affixing a fine cape to yourself with with your mothers brooch for full effect, you include a healthy amount of jewlery in the getup -including your new shield-ring- and perfume yourself lightly.

Giving tasks and messages to a variety of servants you quickly take stock of all of your losses and gains since you left. The man who's been buying out and into various businesses in the city is one Sekhon Chakraborty, reportedly a very rich Keshlan who fought his way out of Keshla with as many goods as he could fit on his ships, with the aid of a now non-existant small army of mercenaries. On arriving to Analysse he has worked to gain partnerships with as many Keshlan businessmen as he could, and has formed something of a guild.

You spend a rather large portion of the day at court, speaking to whatever Keshlan courtiers and noble's happen to be about, and pull quite a few strings to set a trap in position. A boycott by the nobility would certainly force merchants to either fall in line with you, or relocate. It would be difficult to pull off, but you just might have the connections to do so. Speaking with the right people, turning the right heads, and soon the domino's are well on their way to being put in place.
You consider the potential consequences of such an action, an economic war in the city could ruin a number of lowborn lives and put the market into chaos for a time, but it would certainly send a strong message that you are not to be slighted, and make the lives of the merchants who literally sold you out of your partnerships quite difficult.

Your time at court also puts you into contact with Keshlan noble's and merchants you were not familiar With before. Your reception among them is lukewarm, but when you begin offering money and better positions at court for them and their allies in exchange for friendship and support they seem to develop some interest in getting to know you better.

Your father remarkably is also present, alongside the woman who you learn is his concubine, the mother of your half-brother Eric. You avail yourself of the oppurtunity to request that he help provide you with instruction in the ways of military tactics and logistics, and to provide an official version of the events that occured to and from Koringberg. The King tells you he is willing to provide you with a tutor, and allow you to sit in on any sort of war council that may convene in the future.

The day grows short, and court is more or less over. So you spend some of your time sorting through letters and receiving messages from your servants.
Some of the merchants who sold out to Sekhon sent you apology letters that give you the impression they are very afraid of the man. Not all of them sold you out of the partnership entirely though, instead they split their business three ways to accomdate three partners, something that would be pretty pointless given the size of the Keshlan businesses. Nobles of all sorts have sent you the usual invitations to parties or to spend time at their estates and meet their daughters, though one of the letters you come upon is an open invitation from your Uncle Robilard to visit him at his castle. You will have to consider that.

You bring up the possibility of getting Barick a weapon, and he snorts in momentary laughter. "I have more than enough weapons, if you want to do me a favor, I would suggest getting me armor not made out of paper, like that fancy crap they dressed us in yesterday."
With that as a reminder you send off your proper measurements to the armorer who wants to forge you a suit of armor. It's worth considering to send off a second set of measurements soon.

...

The next day you take Bodygaurd, squire and horses out into the city for business. You check on your businesses, and it seems competition is becoming pretty stiff for them, but they are still making money.
You also take the lay of the land in regards to various kinds of businesses. A large portion of the arms and armor in Analysse seem to come from Adalbert, there are plenty of smiths here but their work tends not to be as good. Conversely Adalbert imports plenty of steel and food. The arts have a healthy following within the city, there are two theaters, one richer theatre that tends to host music and dancing, and another theatre popular with the peasantry that hosts street magic and plays.

Verack comes to you with a proposition during your travels through the city. He tells you that while his contract with you is over he is perfectly willing to renew it and stick around, on some conditions. The Silver Moon will need stable wage, and an initial bonus so that Verack can purchase better equipment and train some new recruits, he would also like a bonus whenever you require him to go to war with you. The wage he asks for is considerably less than what he asked for on the trip to Adalbert, and it might be nice having some hardened mercenaries in your pocket in the long term.

Either way, you should also settle upon plans for the long term, and perhaps visit a few specific people before you commit to them.
What are your plans? And will you do anything or speak to anyone before setting them into motion in earnest?
