Why don't we use the large sums of money we recently gained to invest in a new business?
There's always fighting going on, why don't we start manufacturing weapons and armor? Or, rather, we can get all of the smiths in town to work for us, maybe?

After all, giving some powerful warlords discounts on quality weapons would definitely raise their opinion of us, as well as our usefulness to other countries (thus creating an incentive for our protection).

What I'm thinking is maybe getting weapon-smiths to work for us, with each having smallish quotas. They'd probably welcome the ensured stream of income. We'd be able to collect the weapons they all make, keep the finest of the lot for our soldiers, and sell the rest in bulk to nearby kingdoms with aspirations of warfare.

Like that island nation, or Adalbert. They're constantly feuding and posturing in Adalbert, right?

Aldabert feuds with our brother in law because they want to go to war with us and we just finished a terrible stupid war not long ago...as far as the island nation {kal-something} the're in a civil war and the rebels are in power right now. Guess what? the rebels hate our guts and went as far as killing our aunt {who we never knew but still why execute some old lady?}. That leaves that "merchant" faction in our land who was taking control of their homelands island ports. I remember merchants from that same island fleeing because of the war to here and they may be congregating to either get in with the rebels or put the old regime {whoever they were} back in power. I assume the're doing all this for money though so tread carefully maybe we can persuade them to support us somehow.

An no card i doubt we know any lords/ladies who want to be buying so much war-material in peace time. ESPECIALLY since we just finished one.

People are always looking for weapons.
But you're right, it isn't a good idea to give them to people who don't like us.

How many of our own countries lords are looking for weapons though? I mean maybe if the merchants are on our side we could help arm them but...nah sounds like a CIA plot to back the muhajadeen or the soviets backing Castro. It just never ends up quite right.

That depends on who you're talking about. It ended up pretty well for Castro, didn't it?

Did it?

Man, I must be tired.

Maybe we can form a medieval union or something. The steady source of income for the smiths sounds good, but perhaps something more along the lines of this: we give the smiths in our union of smiths just a little bit more than they need to survive in relative comfort. But they can get a nice lump sum if they take a smithing contract on a board of some such. But they have to be evaluated by someone from the union on their skill level. That way, we can rank the smiths so they can take skills in their level. But a lower level smith(of 2 levels smaller at most) can also take the job, but they will have to pay us if they cannot finish the project. Nothing ridiculous, just like 10% of the jobs income. But if they can complete it, they can rank up a level in the union. Also, they would have to take jobs every, say, 2 months or they lose the steady income. But this can be changed if the economy changes in a way that either makes it unwise to keep up their incomes, or if the amount of smithing requests goes down.

So, something like a guild, right? I think that's what those were called.
'Cause that sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe we can try to institute these unions for more types of business, too?

Mayne we can start building music theatre too. We'll pay a manger and he or she sets up some shows. To get in people pay 10 cents/whatever's cheap for peasants. It may not build up into a big buisness empire like mastering our own guild but it could give us good community relations.

Idk I like the idea of a chill prince hanging out at theater and parks enjoying himself.

Also more study time for majic buy some books if we must!

If this place is anything like London in the Renaissance, peasants will eat that up.
We can even get a playwright to write some plays. Maybe get them to cast a favorable impression of us? Perhaps tell of our brave exploits?

Quote from: About Island Rebel Leader
reported hatred for wealth and those who seek it, as such much of Keshla has become unsafe for merchants.

The leader of the rebels hates wealth and merchants, so the merchants are at worst an enemy of an enemy.

Proposed actions for the next few days:
-Start meeting and socializing with Keshla Merchants and any exiled Keshla nobles you can find. Make some friends in that group. Invest some of your newfound wealth in them when possible. See if you can get some of the higher born exiled Keshlians welcomed at court.
-Request of your father that he spend some time training you in material combat and military tactics. Even if he says no, he will appreciate us expressing intrest in such things.
-Make examples of your former partners who sold out. Slander them at court so that nobody respectable will do business with them. Have them locked up on other smaller charges you can dig up or make up. Make their lives miserable, and make it public and clear why you are doing it.

sounds good, but instead of actively making the lives of those that didn't stick with us hell, lets make the lives of those who stayed with us better by trying to aid them. I feel that the carrot is better than the stick.

-See if there is a demand for weapons and armour if we are going to start investing in blacksmiths.
-Find a good place for a theater and find a good screenwriter.
-Find some books on offensive and defensiveness magic
-Get a Berick a better sword or better yet what is his favoured weapon, then get him that.
-Look for other options to diversify the business.

Agreeing with everything ESPECIALLY 2 but 3...are we a noble prince or a vengeful mafia boss? i mean it WAS just business. but if the rest feels it's needed and if we're going to be a little bit evil then so be it more FUN!! that way.

Oh an awesome that were doing the theater thing i know this is going to be a bag of uncertainty but that's whats going to be great about it.
