Liar! Everyone died early in Book 4 and it's only descriptions of desolate corpse-ridden landscapes since then. Eh, oops, spoilers...
Yeah, that was hard to read through. Everything was just depression after depression, I honestly wanted to give up.

Holy shit how did I miss this!

I'm not going to browse this thread until I'm caught up on the books, but PTW!

I've started reading book 4, and I4m not sure if I'll go on. I mean, it seems all the good characters are in book 5 instead. Can I read book 5 and just let drop book 4?

Book four has some great and important scenes near the end, and some good material for theorycrafters throughout. It has some problems in that it's a book primarily meant to set other things up. To pick up the pieces after book 3. Honestly though, book 5 is much the same way.

I think you possibly could read book 5 first or alternate between POV chapters from book 4 and 5. The timelines start to overlap somewhere in the middle of book 4, but there are not that many spoilers for book 5 in book 4.

It should explain how they overlap in book five, at least it did in my copy.

Books 4 and 5 are both duds. Once the Red Wedding and a few other events happen, that's the end of the creative parts of the storyline, and GRRM seems to lose all of his inspiration.

Also, those good characters that you're waiting to reunite with in Book 5? Tyrion and Dany, perhaps? You won't even recognise their characters. It's as though GRRM forgot what made they tick after years away from their POVs.

I, for one, loved the fuck of all the books so far.

Although I must admit Dany went from 'awesome' to 'stupid and should die ASAP' imo the further I read.

The finale is happening right now and I can't watch it for like two more hours. This is agonizing.

Episode 10 is the finale? Damn, it will most likely be 2014 before the next season!

So having not yet seen the episode predictions on the last scene

Ok so just watched todays episode... I actually have no idea what they are going to do with Shae now. I hope it goes just like the books, but maybe not.
