While waiting in a deep tunnel in the mine shaft, you have several hours to ponder the applications of magic and its absorption from the ethereal realm.

It is now dawn, and the hematite vein is still disrupting your magesense, though to a lesser degree.
You are able to sense the first miners arriving for another day of toil, and note a welcome sense of fear underlying their surface thoughts. Three murders and a mutilated sheep are bound to spread rumors throughout the village before the day is out.
Mind: 7 (+3 from meditation, +1 from the humans' fear)
After assembling in the building just outside the mine serving as a meeting area and break room, the twenty miners descend into the main shaft and go about their business - lighting torches, oiling the rickety wooden minecarts, and beginning to chip away at the rock face.
It would seem that there are two assigned to the tunnel you are currently hiding in, and you find a convenient crevice to hide yourself in.
It would seem that you now have several options:
Ambush the two humans and kill them which would increase your Strength directly, though if they are able to call out for help it may cause issues.
Terrify the miners with hallucinations and visions, potentially causing casualties brought on by delusions and increasing your Mind. (it would take minimal effort to do this to twenty miners, costing two Mind initially) Bear in mind that with Mind comes increased power and the potential to raise minions, and with ten Mind you will be able to capture souls and put them to use.
Wait until the end of the shift and quietly remove some of the miners, potentially getting away with more than two murders.
