Woop yeah NPCs are the worst with guns.

IIRC he's trying to reload with whiskey or a melee weapon or even a book.

Well, he thought it needed new batteries. He didn't have enough skill to discern the difference between normal, battery-powered books and those awkward old-fashion paper things.

(Which raises the question: Why doesn't cataclysm have ebook readers? )

Saying this for posterity: NPCs are terrible and you should not play with them.
If you still decide to play with them however, debugging and killing them if they start bugging out is always an option.

Yeah, looking through recipes.json the only things above 9 are solar panels 2 (10) and power storage 2 (12).

You could, in theory, sit in a safehouse for a couple seasons assembling, disassembling, and reassembling solar panel 2's for paltry skill gains until you hit 12, if solar panel 2 doesn't stop giving gains at 11. But you can't progress past 14 even if you wanted to destroy such a ridiculous amount of advanced UPS's and plutonium to make and unmake that many power storage 2's. So basically I should cheat past the absurd grinding required to bother getting high enough to make them, I guess.

OK, 9/10 respectively?

Those seem quite a bit more reasonable, yeah. power mk2's are already expensive with the plutonium and/or adv UPS costs, so I think with the component rarity, that seems pretty fair.

*** unrelated comment I was about to post anyways ***

I retract my statement about guns being underpowered from a few pages back. The skill progression to make use of guns is... really, really weird, but they're very effective once you figure out the odd list of skills you need to make the most of them (or crazy amounts of luck to find exactly what you need to start using them early).

Well, they're still buggy, even if they are less buggy.

It's like comparing a nuclear bomb that has 90% chance  to explode and a nuclear bomb with 30% chance to explode. The chances are a lot better, but you still wouldn't want to be near it.

Good. god.

My farming crops finally yielded. I figured 8 plots per plant would be fair, for strawberries and blueberries, plus whatever I had leftover for space on the rest.

8 strawberry bushes -> about 50 strawberries.
one tomato plant yielded 4 or 5 tomatoes, so that's not bad.
1 barley yields 21 vodka wort. One plant yielded 16 barley. So the 4 plants I grew should be around 60 BOTTLES of vodka at 21 servings each. I could make a bottle a day every day for the next in-game year and barely catch up.

Best part: Just got a recycler unit CBM.... I only need to eat once a day now. Too much food...
