The Flow of the Dynasties
At any time in this game, you will control the apparent matriach and patriarch of the family - the most important elders. They may or may not have children with them.
As said before, your children must either leave at 30, or be promoted to matriach/patriach and accept a NPC spouse. Your character will be automatically assigned one of your current social status, UNLESS you are willing to pay for one higher. At that time, you will ask directly what the cost will be.
Here is how exactly the mechanics will work.
AT ANY TIME PAST THE AGE OF 20:
You may marry your child off to a NPC family. You will receive a one time payment ( A 'dowry', regardless of sex). Typically this is 6 silver pieces for someone of a peasant social status. You have a good chance at gaining prestige from this action. You will no longer have control of this child.
You may give your child money and/or land to start out on their own. You will receive money every turn for the rest of the game, based on the intelligence of the child, their life experience, and how well you equipped them from your estate (land, money, buildings, etc). Typically this is 1 sp/turn for a peasant with a minimum amount of land and no money. Obviously a child with a trade will contribute much more! You likely will not gain prestige from this action. You will no longer have control of this child.
AT ANY TIME PAST THE AGE OF 5:
You may also send your child to the military/nunnery/circus/etc. This is essentially gambling at best. You will receive a single reward that is solely determined on a dice roll on my end. You can receive zero reward. This will also hurt the prestige of your family. You will no longer have control of this child.
Intermarrying, interfamily marriages, etc. Your family may not have incestuous marriages or marry members of another player character family.
Prestige:
This is the overall societal status of your family. If you have high prestige, you are more likely to be elected to office, get better business deals, and eventually become a noble. Prestige is more than just having money - it is about having friends and a solid reputation.
You will not receive any statistic on it - it will be apparent from the events of the world.
