Given every other civilization is out to get us, and that their enemy is our enemy, I would agree to an alliance. It should also make it easier to keep tabs on what's going on with our new allies, in case they start losing badly to the Ferrangi or start a genocidal rampage.

Are allied victories enabled?  If not, I wonder if an alliance might either help the Klingons achieve their victory condition more than us achieve ours, or if allying with the Klingons might bring them into war with more foes that would obliverate them (and thus bringing others closer to victory).

While I love fighting alongside the Klingons, I wonder if this would be dangerous.  On the other hand, if we don't ally with the Klingons, I'm almost certain they'll declare war on us in a few turns.  The AI seems to hate you.

In vendetta, there's only one victory condition, alliance or not - destroy your natural enemies.

EDIT: Also, rehosted images on imgur again, there should be less lag now :3

So long as Klingons are weak and Ferengi are strong, ally.  Once that power balance tips, break the alliance and focus on annihilating our natural enemies.

I don't remember making you a captain :P
Not that I couldn't, especially that there's a fleet in making.

16.

The Council (and Starfleet) have decided:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We're now in alliance with Klingon Empire.
We also decided to settle on a few less interesting systems: namely Morikin and Mariah, to at least partially accomodate for the loss of Mintaka. Intelligence HQ will be moved to Evadne system, which is nowhere close to supernova.
Also, Cpt.Dell was ordered to take his fleet into Ferengi territory. Time to wreak some havoc. Other Federation fleets are on stand-by, protecting the borders.

Next week, nothing interesting happens, besides construction of Ambassador-class cruiser, USS Gandhi A.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ferengi scout at Delta Vega system, promptly destroyed by Cpt.Jack's fleet.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cpt.Dell scores a victory on Ferengi outpost!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Which protected this planetary system inhabited by Bandi people.
USS Adelphi A, Ambassador-class, completed at Yridia.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

After weeks and weeks of negotiations (and bribes), Selay opened their trading posts for us. The reptilean people are quite popular - Ferengi and Klingons trade with them as well.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cpt.Dell and his fleet found the capital of Ferengi Alliance and managed to destroy two cruisers as the rest of battered Ferengi vessels fled away in chaos.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The news of victory were shadowed by tragedy of Malurian, where some kind of deadly plague killed 75 millions.
USS Excalibur, last of ordered Ambassadors, is completed at Yridia.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next week, Cpt.Dell intercepts and destroys Ferengi cruiser and a Klingon Colony Ship is saved from Cardassian destroyer by outpost at Dimorus.
Immigrantion boom happens in Hurada, Klingons demand donations (we agreed to that), Mariah system is colonized!
At last, shipyard news: the scoutship of new fleet, USS Narwhal, is completed at Yridia. This fleet shall be sent into Romulan space.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cpt.Dell got in the very tight cluster of star systems. He ordered one of his science vessels, USS Andromede, to break from the fleet and chart the systems at 'northern' edge of Ferengi space. In the meanwhile, the Takaran Border Task Force shall go 'south-west' and then back to Dimorus system.
At Delta Vega, Federation-Klingon combined fleet (13 ships + outpost) totally pulverize three Cardassian destroyers. I made it an 'auto' battle, so no pics.
Oh, and we also learn that Bandi are actually not members, but SLAVES of Ferengi. We will try to amass troop transport fleet and try to liberate the Bandi. Who knows, maybe they will join us in gratitude?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Sheliak raiders rout a pair of Ferengi vessels.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

At Melina system, the newly formed fleet destroys Romulan Outpost without losses on our side.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We meet Betazoids, they are members of Ferengi Alliance. Damnation.
Ferengi worlds so far are nothing huge - most of their systems are from 150 to 250 millions population range, with only their homeworld being above 300 millions.
Cpt.Dell's fleet was ordered to Deneb system, where it shall meet troop transports fleet and prepare to free Bandi from the midget opressors. In the meanwhile, Cpt.Jack Jr. shall attack Harod system with his fleet to make sure Cardassians won't try to protect their Ferengi friends.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Eh. Propably donation request will follow soon, oh well.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Another Ferengi cruiser downed by Cpt.Dell.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

At Harod, however, a pair of Romulan scouts attacks before real battle starts and USS Barracuda had to retreat. Sadly, Romulan torpedoes got her before she could escape.
Nonetheless, we destroyed the outpost, the Ferengi transports and the Romulan scouts. All in all, this was quite a victory for the Starfleet. Cpt.Jack Jr. was ordered back to Delta Vega. Shelia system shall supply him with replacement Oberth as well as two other ships - one for him, one for Cpt.Dell~

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next week, we colonize Morikin system, expanding our territory at Romulan Neutral Zone.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our Yridian scout also reports a build-up of military ships in Cardassian space, but we're unsure if they're preparing for an invasion or to deal with Husnock warship that looms over their homesystem. Possibly the latter.
At Shelia, the replacement Oberth (for Cpt.Jack Jr.), USS Drake, is completed.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

*eye twitch*

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next week the 'secret project' is complete - our first Galaxy-class cruiser, USS Blake, NCC-11401, leaves Shelia shipyard. He and his soon-to-be-built brother are pinnacles of our starship designs. USS Blake shall reinforce the fleet of Captain Euchre Jack Jr, and the other one will strengthen Captain Neer Dell and his fleet.
Speaking of Cpt.Dell - his fleet and transport group (escorted by Sheliak vessels) has just begun 'Operation Architect'. If all goes well, in less than seven days, Ferengi presence in Deneb system shall be nullified.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

'Operation Architect' have failed miserably. We lost our transports as well as USS Khartoum, Cpt.Dell's scoutship from orbital platforms' fire. The falling debris, exploding warp cores and stray shots near the Bandi planets caused a lot of casualties down there. We shall construct additional transport fleet as soon as possible.

18.

Two weeks pass without nothing interesting happening.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Then we acquire Level 5 in Physics. Charge Collectors will be built on many worlds, and the cheap and efficient (50 food for 10 energy!) Federation Replicators are queued everywhere for construction.

Next week the second Galaxy cruiser, USS Gloucester, is completed at Shelia. We are also reminded that Galaxy-class ships have 'green' range, and thus, this ship will have to wait until Cpt.Dell returns, or, we liberate, acquire and reinforce Deneb system.

Few more turns, nothing happens.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Turn 175: We had to destroy those platforms, you know.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Week later we receive news - the Cardassians are on the move; seven cruisers, three destroyers near Harod, and seven scouts + cruiser near Morikin. They might be reinforcing Harod system or maybe preparing to strike against our borders. Or both these things in the same time. Local ships and outposts were put on yellow alert.
Klingons asked us for a donation, to which we complied. Transport fleet is en route to Deneb as we speak.

Week later, our outposts are bothered by four Ferengi and Cardassian scouts, which are all destroyed.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Preposterous! Our diplomats are currently busy with finding a way to keep Klingons in the war, at least against the Cardassians.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This increases range of our 'yellow' grid ships by 1. We're also ready to liberate Bandi, again.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

*facedesk*
Honestly? There is no orbital platforms, ground defense is minimal!
CPT.DELL Y U CANNOT WIN BANDI FOR US!?

The fleet has been ordered back to Dimorus where it shall be reinforced by USS Gloucester. For now we're abandoning Ferengi space, it is time to prepare to fight the Cardassians. There are plans for conquering Harod, reinforcing it and use the system as a supply point for our invasion further into Cardassian space, possibly against Cardassia itself.
Shiela shipyards are also constructing a pair of Miranda-class starships for Cpt.Cain as his fleet consists of only six starships, which is quite small for the kind of strategic system (Morikin) he is stationed at. Ambassador-class cruiser is being constructed at Yridia for Cpt.Kor, stationed at Ariannus. He has large fleet, but it's composed mostly of Miranda-class destroyers, with only one cruiser.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The simultaneous breakthroughs in Construction and Weaponry allowed us to perform refits on Ambassador-class cruisers and transport ships. Utopia Planitia Yards will be constructed shortly.
USS Saratoga, first of two Mirandas for Cpt.Cain, is completed at Shelia, whilst USS Zhukov, the Ambassador-class ship, is completed at Yridia and was immediately sent to Cpt.Kor.

Klingons rejected our war pact for second time (we even wanted to give them money), so we won't be tugging them into our wars. They can have fun with Ferengi.

Starfleet is also pondering about constructing several Nebula-class cruisers. Whilst their overall weaponry is better than Galaxy-class, they are behind it in terms of armor and shielding. They use 'green' range as well, which limits their useability. Quite possibly we will leave the matter to the Captains who are interested in Nebula cruisers in their fleets.

Ah by the way, Captain Jack Roberts is being transferred to the Third RNZ Task Force, stationed at Altec system. He shall take command of one of the Miranda-class destroyers in the fleet. The destroyers in question are USS Sitak, USS ShirKahr, USS Lantree and USS Tian An Men.

I love the design of the nebula class strike-cruiser. I'd request one as the flag ship of my fleet.
