Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Besides another warning from Romulan Empire, we also manage to hastily finish our first Miranda-class starship, USS Majestic. Cpt.Cain took command of it after accustoming Cpt.Dell to the old USS Biko. The scoutship's mission continues, but with new commanding officer.
For a while, Captain Jarod Cain shall be performing tests and shakedown cruises with USS Majestic around Sol system.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Few weeks later, Cpt.Dell reports his first and possibly greatest discovery - another spacefaring empire of species calling themselves Cardassians. They are somewhat reptilean and are very territorial and suspicious of us. It seems we have met someone very similar to Romulans...
In the same time, Takarans at last built their Physics Institute. This prompted us to shift 5% of research from Energy to Weapons.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The Cardassians didn't mind our intrusion until USS Biko sent us this report - they don't need to be scared of us. There are at least fifteen subspace distorsions matching that of a warp drive, including two larger than other, possibly coming from destroyers. It has been noted that Cardassians are fairly militaristic species. Captain Neer Dell has been ordered to leave Cardassians space immediately, hopefully before the aliens will do that by force.
Also, with next week, second Miranda starship will be completed, and production of starships at Sol shall cease - the shipyard queue will be moved to nowhere else than Takara. Their construction facilities are better than those at our homeworld. Whilst it's kind-of far from Sol, we can host a small fleet of destroyers in less than 20 weeks. In the same time, we would have around 2 and half of a destroyer completed at Sol.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

USS Miranda is completed at Sol. Young but competent Illi Kor from Mintaka have took command and joined Cpt.Cain. The two destoyers shall proceed to Romulan Neutral Zone Outpost #4, the one pushed toward our space, where they will be joined by USS Oberth scout, and then they will began their task of intercepting Romulan ships as well as actively scouting the border regions.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

What we have feared, happened.
Romulans broke our non-aggression treaty few days before our destroyers arrived at Romulan Neutral Zone. Whilst our sensors report no enemy activity, all ships and outpots at RNZ have been put into yellow alert, and crews are to be ready for combat at any moment.
Non-officially, we're at state of war.

From other news, Takara shipyard completes few colony ships, whilst USS Biko leaves Cardassian space without any incidents. However, the reptilean aliens bluntly refuse any treaty proposals.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We receive a warning from Cardassians. Might be about our latest RNZ outpost that's is just beyond Cardassian space.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The very moment our border task force arrives at RNZ Outpost #5, sensors pick up a strange subspace distortion, which soon materializes into fleeing Romulan scout. Our ships didn't managed to catch it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The same evening, out scientists finish the Beam Hardening theorem, bringing us several advances across the board, including a new design of a Ambassador-class light cruiser. One of the prototypes shall be build at Takara after it's initial queue of ships is completed.
USS Biko reports completing it's secret mission - flying through a nebula located in Cardassian space for two-fold reason - to scout the border and reach non-claimed regions faster.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Citizens in every Federation system celebrate both colonization of Hurada - allowing us to build our second dilithium refinery - as well as Yridians joining our society. As you can see, the crafty informers are equals of Takarans in terms of technological advancement. This, coupled with vast resources and proximity to Romulan border, caused Starfleet Command to shift ship construction planning:
A) RNZ-destined ships at Yridia
B) Transports, colony ships at Takara.

The Yridians also given us control of their two advanced scouts. They are faster than our Oberths and have much more powerful scanners, not to mention possessing a cloaking device akin to Romulans. They were immediatelly sent toward east and then up, to spy a little at our neighbours' border.

From scouting news:
USS Biko have at last left Cardassian space and is chartering regions around it, toward Takara, whilst USS Osiris is almost done with chartering upper rim of Takaran supply range. So far, no special discoveries were made nor first contacts have been established.

And from border news... our task force again bumped onto that Romulan scout.

It is just scouts for now. Tomorrow... there might be destroyers, or something worse...

As far as I know from the rumors coursing the vast internet, there's some kind of internal game blockade so Borg won't appear too fast. Propably turn-related.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next week two reports land on my desk. First is about a vast planetary system found by Cpt.Dell. It offers living space for around 300 million people, but given the proximity of Cardassian space, we can assume we won't get there before our reptilean neighbours.
Other report was from internal security - we managed to barely prevent a catastrophic sabotage in Physics Institute.
This also prompted us to devote some time into improving our intelligence services - several training centers and databanks will be build in Oceanus system.

USS Biko shall again venture into Cardassian space, to check it's northern reaches. Our colony ships are en route to Dimorus and later, to Morikin system as well. Yridian scouts continue their secret mission without problems for now.

And, last but not least, our diplomats began sending gifts to Sheliak, in hopes that we can end our one-sided hostilities.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Captain Euchre Jack found another star-faring empire, Ferengi Alliance, in a sector we previously had explored. Last time we must've just missed the trader people. Diplomatic channels have been opened immediatelly, as they might prove to be good allies in the future.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our Yridian scouts went right into very heart regions of Romulan space, giving us insight into their territory. The largest force is at this system, which might be Romulus system. There are few outposts in vicinity as well as subspace distortion comparable in size to a destroyer-type vessel traveling through deep space.
Cpt.Jack has been ordered to rendevous with colony ships at Demorus, and Cpt.Dell is ordered to leave Cardassian space and retreat to Harod system after scout's sensors detected several destroyers in vicinity, possibly on intercept course.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Terrorists blow up whole bunker network on Takarans' planets. This is quite a feat, but fortunately there were only few casualties.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ferengi accepted our non-aggression treaty. We will now try with trade agreement. It could boost our economy by hundreds.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

However, in the same time, USS Biko discovers an outpost at edge of a nebula. It might be the same tactic that Romulans used with Ariannus system - to establish a staging point into our territory. USS Osiris, USS Biko, a transport and colony ships have been sent to terraform, colonize and fortify Delta Vega system.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next week, our Yridian scouts get from Romulan into Cardassian territory. To avoid a conflict, we had them retreate-

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ooooh, no, you don't!
As RNZ Task Force is occupied with intercepting Romulan scouts, we had our Oberths called to scare away or, if necessary, destroy the Cardassian transport. We cannot allow for the reptilean warriors to sneak into our territory like that!
In the same moment, I get report from Yridian scouts - Cardassian border units consist of at least fiffteen scouts and four or five destroyers.

RED ALERT! RED ALERT!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our border is in extreme danger. Yridians have been told to triple their shipyard efficiency, some way or another. Comission of Ambassador-class cruisers and Miranda-class destroyers is on the way.

It has begun.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

ROMULANS EVERYWHERE.
Besides that large group of 11 destroyers, there are two scouts near Yridia and colony ship accompanied by destroyer, most propably going toward Vilmor. USS Brunswick A, Miranda-class destroyer, was completed at Yridia.
Cardassian transport, according to the plan, ran away when intercepted by our scouts.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

They've attacked.

---
Cpt.Cain: Where are they? Are they still under cloak-
Weapons Officer: Captain, they're decloaking right between our own ships!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

First Officer: They are ignoring us!
Weapons Officer: They've concentrated fire on the outpost!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

First Officer: Our weapons cannot pierce their shields, sir!
Cpt.Cain: ...Order our retreat. There's no way we can win this battle.
Helm: Course laid in, sir.
Cpt.Cain: Engage.
*pshooooooooooooom... blam!*

Five seconds later...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
---

Yep, our outermost outpost has been obliterated. RNZ Task Force have failed but honestly there was no other way to end this fight, at least we saved the ships. Our defeat is reason for protests in Sol system, the citizens are disgruntled with our inability to defend our border
Ferengi ask us for a small donation, and we agreed as a gift of goodwill. At Yridian star system, USS Everett is completed.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

In middle of hostilities, we colonized another star system.
USS Covington built at Yridia.
USS Biko and USS Osiris were ordered to join RNZ Task Force, along with two Mirandas built earlier at Yridian shipyards. To quicken the construction of new vessels, Takaran system was queued with several destroyers as well.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Turn later, it is Cardassian scout that enter Romulan Neutral Zone. It has been destroyed.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This happens as well. Romulans, of course, are prime subjects, with Cardassians behind.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next week, Ferengi break our non-aggression treaty.
USS Coronado, a Miranda ship, is completed at Takara. After Captains Cain, Jack, Dell and Kor formed one small fleet, they were ordered further 'south' to meet the two Mirandas dispatched from Yridia.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

More bad news come from eastern edge of our territories. Our aggressive neighbours just signed a peace treaty with our enemies.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

USS Monroe, an Ambassador-class cruiser, is completed at Yridia. Along with USS Everett, they were sent toward Romulan Neutral Zone.
RNZ Task Force is en route to Quadra Sigma where they shall meet with two destroyers, which shall join the border fleet.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

One turn later, our RNZ outposts detect eight destroyers, split into two even groups, at two different regions.
USS Rockford and USS Newport, Miranda-class destroyers, are completed at Takara and Yridia, respectively.

That's all for now, as Starfleet Command and I have to discuss future plans concerning Romulan activity and recent attacks.

9.

Next week there is no hostilities, and USS Somali is completed at Yridia.

Another pair of destroyers next week: USS L'Aventure at Takara, and USS Winnipeg at Yridia.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Just as Cardassians settle on Emilia before our outpost is constructed, USS Kirkland is completed at Yridia.

It is however, time to take an offensive action. The RNZ strike fleet is reinforced with USS Everett and USS Monroe, and sent to attack the Romulan outpost at Ariannus system.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Thanks to supreme skills of our Captains, we won the battle against the Romulans. The outpost and four destroyers have been destroyed after a charge, harry and another charge as the Romulan ships tried to turn to face our forces after a run.
We weren't without casualties, though - we lost USS Oberth and USS Osiris to initial de-cloaking attack. We shall always remember the valiant explores, amongst them, Captain Euchre Jack.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We also hastily colonize Delta Vega system to secure and expand our northern border.
USS Montreal has been completed at Takara shipyards.
Starfleet Command decided that Oberths are not a proper place for our valuable captains. Thus, Captain Neer Dell is being promoted to captainship of Miranda-class destroyer. He is allowed to pick any of Mirandas in the RNZ Task Force that's not already taken: USS Brunswick, USS Everett, USS Covington.
Time to build up some forces near Cardassian region too, them reptiles running scouts all around the border...

After Cpt.Dell took command of USS Everett, he was ordered to take USS Brunswick and converge with three destroyers from Takara at Emilia system. If Cardassian Union won't yield, we shall declare war upon this blatant act of invasion.

Next turn, Cardassian scout briefly enters Dimorus system before retreating and USS Madison, Ambassador-class cruiser is completed at Yridia.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Romulans and Cardassians must've formed a war pact against us. This not only allows us to bombard Emilia colony, but the citizenry is with us - the morale have risen amongst our planetary systems.
USS Lachlan, another Miranda is completed at Takara, given new, prolonged designation, NCC-11214.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

USS Montreal, en route to Emilia, had to scare away a Cardassian scout.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That certainly doesn't help us, not even a bit.
USS Zarnitza, one of Ambassadors, is completed at Yridia. Along with the USS Madison and two Mirandas, they shall attack Romulan outpost at the border of Yridian space. Also, Sheliak sent us a message, I wonder what kind of insults it is now.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

...Oh, don't even mention it!
After briefly consulting with the councils of our member worlds, we've sent a friendship proposal to the Sheliak, who seemingly were assaulted by Cardassian scout or two. They could be valuable allies!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next week, we learn that Romulans and Cardassians are on a good route to alliance. Ferengi are standing on the side and watching. Quite possibly our northern neighbours are wondering if they should join the conflict, and if they should - on which side.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

RNZ Task Force that just returned from Ariannus has been set to intercept the detected destroyers. Hopefully we will destroy them as easily as the outpost.
USS Alacrity, Oberth-class scout is completed at Yridia (to replace our losses), and USS Condamine at Takara. Along with USS Lachlan, the two destroyers were sent to secure Dimorus system.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Romulan destroyers evaded the RNZ Task Force and struck the Altec outpost. The valiant crew managed to down two of Romulan vessels and damage one other before the strike group warped out.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The attack at Romulan outpost goes slightly worse. Whilst said Outpost is destroyed, so is USS Winnipeg, Miranda-class destroyer. The other destroyer, USS Kirkland, got heavily damaged after it's shields collapsed.

Few hours after the battles, we receive a couple of diplomatic news:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The citizenry still believes in Starfleet and Federation as whole, and morale have risen. Sheliak apparently ignored our friendship treaty.
So we've sent another, this time with small gift attached to the letter.
USS Khartoum and USS Cavalier completed at Takara and Yridia. Both are Oberth-class scouts.

Next week, an immeasurable tragedy occurs.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Before we could do anything, Oceanus system has been wiped out by supernova. All that's left is a cloud of planetary debris. There were no survivors. Not only this cripples our economy, as Oceanus was our first and largest colony, but the Internal Security HQ was located there as well, leaving us vulnerable for Romulan and Cardassian saboteurs. Takarans offered to train some agents and build databanks for us.

From shipyard news: USS Andromede, Oberth, Takara, and USS Helmsdale, Miranda, Yridia.

One week mourning has been declared at all member worlds due to Oceanus cataclysm, and our scientists try to estimate and predict any future supernovas.
Supernova research is now our primary concern - Mintaka, Hurada and Dimorus are systems with red giants too. If they will go supernova as well, the short and long-term results would be devastating for the Federation.

Get colonizing? Or is there no more room left to expand.

In that case, destroy the enemy, and colonize their planets.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Bunch of diplomatic news, including Sheliak becoming our friends.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Terrorists strike again. Our homeworld was struck this time, but fortunately the shipyard was inactive. It's matter of rebuilding it.
USS Boston, Miranda-class, completed at Yridia. That's the last of warships queued in that system. Now, few transports and colony ships were ordered for construction. Same at Mizar, so we can colonize Evadne system.
Yridian fleet, except USS Kirkland, has been sent to the Ariannus system, to help RNZ Task Force with it's bombardment.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

...Eh, we're in planetary shift season again, it seems.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Week after that, we have scientific breakthrough! Our deepspace Yridian Scouts report that Cardassians have constructed a sturdier ship, a cruiser-type vessel, it seems.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We have cleansed Emilia system from the Cardassians. It shall be terraformed fully and soon, colonized.
It has been decided that Mintaka system shall be the place of our new Intelligence HQ.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Another sabotage. Fortunately it again struck inactive buildings so there's no starvation danger at Sol.

Next week, USS Iroquis, Ambassador, is completed at Yridia.
In the same time, at Sol, the building of Federation Council is at last completed. My seat as well that of Admirals and Ambassadors was at last moved into one place.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Soon afterwards, Sheliak send us affiliation treaty. Of course we accept it.

Next week, two more cruisers: USS Crescent and USS Warakurna, are finished, respectively, in Takara and Yridia.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our scouts venture into very heart of Cardassian Union, spying upon enemy vessels before retreating.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next day, we hear that Cardassians and Romulans signed a military alliance.
Miranda-class destroyer, USS Sakai, is completed at Yridia. Sheliak Raider vessels are currently going through our space, possibly toward Ferengi planetary systems. They don't give us any explanation for this.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Just as Ariannus colony is destroyed, our scientists improve our knowledge in Propulsion. RNZ Task Force is returning to Quadra Sigma, whilst Yridian Task Force is going to Romulan system called Kurill. To maintain discipline in the groups, Captain Jarod Cain has been transferred to USS Zarnitza, Ambassador-class starship in Yridian Task Force.
Similarily, Captain Illi Kor was given the seat of command over the fleet at USS Monroe, Ambassador-class in RNZ Task Force.
At Yridian shipyards another Miranda is completed: USS Venice.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And this is Cardassian-Ferengi border. As you can see, Sheliak visit Harod system for reasons unknown, not even interrupting the outpost construction there. Who knows what they're planning!
