Train spell casting - aspect control.
[35213]
You manage to increase your understanding of how to control your power more efficiency in only ever so subtle ways. Subtlety has, however, always been a lacking aspect of many of the magically inclined denizens of the Coast. Had they been moreso than they were, maybe they would still be alive... (Net Gain: 10pts)
Go to the leader of Moun's abode (I forgot what he was called) and ask for a meeting.
The Archbishop sits upon a raised dais in the 'Common' Temple of Moun. Common has always been a strange word for a place so uncommon. Decorations, artifacts and murals of nearly every religion known to the coast (and several not) adorn the interior of the building. Many believe that Moun may be the only place in the Coast where one can be open about who, or what, they are without fear of persecution. All the religions are represented among the council, yet none have absolute rule. The Archbishop himself is simply the figurehead, a symbol of the city and its purpose.
Often are the doors to the Common Temple left open to recieve audience of those who come. Most of the visitors seek absolution, confession or simply guidance. A rare few come in search of more. On such instances, the doors may be closed soon after the audience so the council may speak.
"Welcome to Moun and the Common Temple child, you don't look very accustomed to such a place. Where have you left to visit us this day?"((I take this to mean that I am now aware of The Gilded Lily's association with William?))
-Terryn assures that Gilded Lily's associate that he will be in contact with further information shortly, and then ends the meeting.
-Terryn explains his plan to the gang remnants: The present Guard Captain is incorruptible, seeking only to do right by his job and bring justice to the city's criminals. Terryn wishes to kill him, so that he may be replaced by a Guard Captain who is more likely to have an...open ear to the cause of those who aren't on his side of the law. (Terryn intends to offer himself for the position, which is why I originally wanted to do these meetings privately)
Naturally, should this plan succeed Terryn will have more work to do that the gangs may be able to help him with, all of which will stick it to the man.
Oh, and also:
-Terryn, Oswald, Donald, and Ian, having heard of this young preacher's antics and his apparent claimed knowledge of the recent manifestation of magic, exit at the city at Dusk to learn more. This is considered just another part of the earlier investigation roll, and I don't know why it's bolded.
((Yes, she won't exactly hide her 'protection' of Legality from the current Lord. Theres no reason to hide
legal business))
[456] The various fractured alliances of Polcan underworld are intrigued by the idea. Most of them understand that they are far too recognized within the city to be acceptable replacements to the Captain as most of them have probably been arrested by him and his men at some point. They're eager to see what you have in store for the current Lord.
Decry verbal attack on Gavin as act of sin. Keep preaching to the crowds and urging the "faithful" to meet him outside of the city at dusk.
[156] Those in the crowd are receptive to your words, but the comments made against your origin and faith remain valid. Mention of 'gods' had thinned the herd a fair bit to begin with, but those that remain simply wish to know who you supposedly speak for.
William speaks with the Madam about the incident, seeing if she has any info.
Then sends hired scouts out to look around in all directions in a pattern, with marked search areas, to report back in a week, to see if the threat is gone.
[13] "Incident? The raids I'm assuming? Hells if i know! Bastards ran off with a few crates of my wine! I had to import an extra from Ligoria of all places. I hope they are rot in hell! Damn useless city guard..."
[32]
You would need to hire merc scouts to get more accurate information, but there's a fair bit of commotion from the merchants in and out, mostly out, of Polca about the bandits cherry-picking caravans. They're starting to get annoyed. As far as they can tell, estimates put their forces at 2-4 full regiments of men who seemingly appear out of thin air any time there's a poorly defended caravan in the area. No one wants to leave town without at least 3 of their own guards - and there simply arent enough guards to go around.
Sea Merchants simply snicker while being cursed with a sea of pirates by the others.
(-1d) [64] A few 'runners-for-hire' have been know to sit in the tavern from time to time getting drunk. Your men hire them early one morning before they have a chance to get lazy that afternoon, and they head out in the night. They manage to gather a very detailed report on the 'bandits' at large. The recognize the men as being part of the
Black Company. They're not bandits at all, they're a small time mercenary company outfitted for the vary work they're doing. No one truly knows where they're from, but people say they have their operations out of the mountains to the north.
