William stands outside of the circle, and declines holding anybody's hand. He shifted from foot to foot, waiting for this to get over, and the people to go back inside the city walls, so he could go do something else more interesting.
He slipped a cigarette from his boot, slipped it into his mouth and lit it.

He wondered if he should make fun of the nut job again, but thought better of it.

Ienden decided to have a look at what the strange prophet has to tell everyone, so he waited till evening before returning home and went to the meeting outside of the city walls first. Following the whole group, he joins them. When asked to hold hands, he joins in too.

(note: he has the untrained talent of magic within him, most likely charged and ready by now... just waiting for the right moment to manifest itself. Ienden himself is pretty unaware of it.)

Laneira tilted her head, slightly in thought. She knew that the demand for Caravan guards was currently high, but this was surprising. It's like a civil war, coming from the facts of frequent bandit raids and that Polca was attacked. However, she didn't come here for nothing. Surely there must be even a few merchants who have stranded themselves here who would want to get out.

Recall Talus and my regiment. Search and ask for any Merchants seeking to head out of Polca and propose a deal to offer my aid.

"Did you by any chance factor in the chance we'll be killed if we're captured? "

"Hmm...good point..."
William looks at Eurika with interest.
"Didn't you say you knew magic?"

"...Yes, I did. Magic is not reliable, though, and seventy percent of the time things go awry. Usually, only three times out of ten do things go perfectly fine. Also, about the gunpowder... how are you going to light it?"

"A flint hooked to the top of the chest with a piece of steel beside it."

"Could you...say...hypothetically...create a gem or treasure chest and then...make something that always points to that one thing? Like a compass does to the Northlands?"

"I don't know. I'll try it on a empty bottle and a compass later, and report back to you. Oh, and I forgot to tell you, but I found there is a certain type of gem that acts as... eh, 'insurance' for when magic goes wrong. It costs as much as a regiment (one ducat, to be precise), but I think it'll be useful. Could you purchase that for me using the promised upkeep?"

~~~~~In room
Eurika examined the finely made, but simple compass, and the glass bottle next to it. She used a silver coin to make a scratch in the bottle. She had a hunch things might need to be unique for things to work. Laying hands on both the compass and the bottle, she closed her eyes . . .
Using the ambient earth energy, enchant the compass to point to this bottle for twelve hours.
Hallway Adjacent to Laythe's room.
William knocks on the door, for the second time in two weeks.
It's annoying how she doesn't even let you look in her room, isn't it?
Laythe opened the doo, inviting William insde to take a seat at the table, before sitting down herself.
"I assume you're here with a reason William? You don't exactly show up here for a social call. Surprised you haven't made a move for the position of Lord protector though. In any case, what brings you in here?"
Laythe's guards stood at attention, on the inside of the door.
William shrugs.
"A group named the Black Regiment or Company, most likely hired by one or more of enemies is stalling my plans for Ligoria, by terrorizing Polca and disrupting the order"
"I wish to speak of your army-building using the Polcan civilians..."
"Volunteers. Some are refugees from Ligoria after the republic took power, some are, as you said, Polcan. To me, it matters not where they came from, just that they're willing to fight to the last soldier for me. You need them to help stabilize Polca, just ask.
Now, I assume that you have a plan for dealing with the Black company?"
"You know m-...well no you don't, actually...not very well."
William lapses into silence for a second.
"Finding them is going to be the hard part. Having my men or your's search the back country for hours would be giving us a disadvantage, if they are as smart as they're rumored to be. So I'm going to be using a trick to find their camp, i'll poison their food, then give a signal to-..."
"Could I use your knights, for that part?"
"I think I have a better plan. Send out a messenger to negotiate with them. Worst comes to worse we buy ourselves time to recruit a proper unit of scouts and to enact futher plans.
Though if you have a plan, would you care to elaborate on such?"
