This city never sleeps.
From the stifling, fishy smells of the docks, to the nocturnal murmurings of the old residential neighbourhoods, all the way to the owls roosting at the end of 43rd Street on the way out of town, something, somewhere, is always stirring.
Take for example, this man, walking into the alley, holding a briefcase. And the one shadowing him, hidden from view.

He's a bearded giant, his thick frame hidden by several layers of even thicker clothing. His features are cragged and hard, and the glasses sitting on his nose seem very out of place.

This bearded man just so happens to be a very important figure in this city.

Despite nobody knowing his name-simply reffering to him as the Watchman-everybody in the town knew that anyone noticing themselves being tailed by him resulted in their disappearance. But more about him later.

And the man being followed also happened to be a pedophile. But along with justice, vigilante it may be, crime, murder, and death never stop either.

((Huh, 'while you were typing blah blah blah'. Changing this to fit.))

He's a petty thief by the name of Stone, a nobody who's been unfortunate enough to get mixed in something much bigger than him. He doesn't know what's in the briefcase, but the pay's good for this job, so he doesn't ask questions. It's the only kind of job he can still get.

The job itself was fair game-swap the briefcase he has with a briefcase of "value" and get paid more money than the value of the first case. In theory, an easy job.

Stone looked up and down the alley he was in, and saw naught but chipped brick walls and aluminum trash cans. He saw a rotting wooden chair next to a door to one of the buildings lining the alley, and sat down with a huff to await his contact that he was told about. Shakingly, he took a cigarette out of his jacket and lit it.

He took a drag of the cigarette, trying to take his mind off the fact staring him in the face. He sighed deeply, and looked at the windows around him. In every window he thought he could see a police sniper, but really, there was nothing in those broken down tenement windows apart from his own imagination.

The Watchman came into view, briefcase in hand. "Do you have what I came for?" A  sneer broke out on Stone's face. "I sure do. It's right here, next to my chair."

The Watchman kept his face blank, and slowly took the briefcase and swapped it around in a prepared motion. "Stone, do you have a bribe ready if a policeman walks by?"

'That ain't gonna work in this part of town.' Stone sneered. 'I would've thought you'd know that, Mr. Watchman.'

The Watchman smiled and pulled out a 44 magnum. "Works in any part, just change it for a gun, and anyone will do anything for you." The Watchman cocked the gun, a click ringing out in the dark fog of that lonely night.

Stone scrambled to his feet, his cigarette falling to the ground. He backed up, slowly coming into contact with the wall behind the chair. He took one last wild look at the Watchman, and bolted down the ally, throwing the chair in the watchman's direction, hoping to keep him from firing.

It was too late. The bullet flew past the chair as it rose, and flew straight into Stone's back, paralyzing him from the waist down. That's when I got involved.
