Kawakai was just putting the finishing touch on her map, she'd spent the past week talking to the locals about the area, sketching what they described and keeping Rectyl happy.

Spoiler: The Map (click to show/hide)

Just at that point a messenger hopped through a tent flap "Rectyl requests you design him a mill!"
"A mill, what kind of mill?" queried Kawakai as she flicked her monocle a couple of times and her tail slitherd across the ground
"Umm... you know... like a mill?"
*sigh* "Go back and ask for details, I can't design something with so little detail. Is it a windmill? Watermill? Large or small? What's it's purpose, just to turn an axle? Or does it need to be connected to machinery? Get me more details"

Send the messenger back asking for further details about the mill.

((I claimed red!))
William listened to the man wheedling away with the same snarl.
"You can run fast, I never saw anything that suggests your good with a blade and your as honest as Akbar. I don't need a bad liar for anything. Why don't you and me go speak to the Captian of the guard? I'm sure he'll be understanding."

Etiac considered this for a while. He'd been expecting this.

'Look, friend. If you don't trust me, then don't hire me. Your threats are pointless, in any case. I think the Captain would be more interested in a murderer - and a foreigner, even - than me. Rumour on the street has it the Queen was mighty displeased with an envoy from the Mirish Coast. From your accent, I guess you're part of his entourage. I wager she'd be even less pleased if one of them killed someone...'

He gives a smug smile. 'Or well, you could put a blade through my stomach. But here, in a public bar? I don't think so. So either drop the threats, or get out of here.'

'Tala' always thought summer was the best season-there was no time for rest after planting, it was time to put away the plow, and pick up the blade...habitually, she had changed her style of clothing from a fairly subdued light green, to more vibrant red and yellow.

She was eager to see if Hugos Art would sell-but more eager at the contacts she could make from selling them...the modeling was set for less than a week from now, and she was trying to think of what she should do. It would have to be private-unless she intended to fake her own death, there was no way she could have her face hanging on a wall...she wondered what the artist would think of something personal-risque?

In better news-her portfolio on the Kingdom was small, but growing every day. Soon, soon-her paymasters would get what they wanted.

3 Actions to kick off the summer!

-Begin to do brisk business in the Art Trade, making friends in high places.
-Attempt to gather some common information on state of the realm.
-Try to improve my relationship with David the Guard, and see what court secrets he might spill in the course of casual conversation.

((I've claimed David as a NPC people's  ;D ))

Another long day for David, he was just returning from a street patrol to return his gear to the armoury when he looked up and saw a rather handsome lady strolling past "Hey! I've seen you somewhere before... was it Tala?"

Laythe looked down upon Talama from the palace, her eyes usually drawn to the arena, A work which seems out of place due to it's design.

"Jacobo! Are there any games being run in the arena?"

See if there are any fights, tounaments or any other sort of sport going on in the arena this summer.

The gahtering of their host had taken the better part of the spring and now that Goum's Strike Force was ready, Corv's Mercenaries couldn't await it any longer...

A predatory smile came onto William's features.
"Technically, I'm a baron of the fine country of Ligoria and those men were trying to kill me, just as you stole my wallet. I might lose some of my money to pay your weregild, but your worthless hide isn't worth the money, Mr.Belladom.
He took a sip of Beer.
"But your bluffing on an empty hand makes me want to kill you slightly less. So, thief, how about this. Swear fealty to me and I'll give you a ducat next year and a slip of paper that says I'm your liege lord, it won't hold up in the queen's court, but any lesser court of law will have to talk to me first about your punishment or trial. Sound good?"

Kathos was in his lands. Some of his wine had been sold, and now he had 1.4 ducat. It was a good start. The first thing he was going to do was quite simple. His guards were in good numbers, but they weren't equipped well. That was going to change. Kathos decided to buy some material for them (better armor and weapons). Heavy infantry was always stronger than light infantry, and the baron knew that.

Upgrade personal guard to heavy infantry

"She wants to know what kind of mill, ambassador."

"A small windmill just to power a millstone. Tell her it's just to make the peasant's life easier."

"Yes, ambassador."

((Using the old battle rules as I'm not sure whether the other bits are implemented or not))

Galam [Commander Zach's personal guard - tactician] + [2 heavies] + [2 raiders] + [Corvus MacRia's raiders], [Using force rout tactic] vs Bandits [2 archers] + [1 infantry regiment], [low palisade confers +1 battle roll]

You look across the landscape and see the small town you'll be attacking, torches flicker in the cold night as men rush to defend the hastily built palisade, their odds were not looking good [Tactics roll req. 3+2-2 roll. 1] [Galam 9+5-1] vs [Bandits 6+2] as you greedily rub your hands together commander Zach shouts "charge!". Rushing forwards your men are among the first to overcome the barrier and begin chopping away at the archers a lucky shot hits you in the leg but consumed with adrenaline you barely notice. [Raiders have lost low palisade advantage + 2 archers], [Galam has lost 1 heavy]. [Galam 8+5] vs [Bandits 1+3] As you march on the central plaza all you find is a quivering retinue of soldiers which you quickly strike down with ease [Bandits have lost 1 infantry regiment], [Galam is victorious].

Your men start looting the streets by the end of the night you've managed to obtain [6/5 = 1.2] ducats, a decent profit.

((if we're switching to the experience system you've got 1 point for that too, I'll do a new post tomorrow for the mill))

Ten, twenty pound bags of flour arrive at the Hatcur's camp. Two Crimson guards unload the flour onto a pallet in the center of the camp. The guards present a note to a Hatcuri standing by and then leave..

The battle had been far to easy. It had rather been a massacre, but Corv was even more displeased at the ridiculous low amount of loot found among the bandits, although that could have to do something with the enormous army of Goum. At least they didn't seem to interested in the bandit corpses up to now. Suddenly a jolt of pain rolled through his leg.

ARGH!

"Calm down, the arrow is already out now just the cow-piss to desin..."

Cow Piss? COW PISS? What kind of Medicus are you? Bring me clean water and not thrice be damned Cow piss!

"Well dont blame me if by the morrow your wound will fester..."

Get. out. of. my. tent.

loot the corpses, and on the way back try forge potential alliances with the nobles, hold lookout for contracts. When back in Goum sell the armors and weapons taken from the bandit corpses.

Another long day for David, he was just returning from a street patrol to return his gear to the armoury when he looked up and saw a rather handsome lady strolling past "Hey! I've seen you somewhere before... was it Tala?"

'Tala' put on a winning smile. He was a nice guy really-the perfect mark.

"Indeed-Tala Alanis. We met when I first had my audience. I remember the kindess you showed me. A mark of a noble soul.

It's so nice to have a chance to talk to you again-and I am pleased to see you did not forget me, David. I did not forget you, either."

She says warmly.

"Tell me, is all in your life well, David? The court is such an interesting place for a young noblewoman, but I'd imagine the duties of a guard have their own excitements-and surprises, come as they may."

She places a hand on his armored shoulder.
