((Everypony seems pretty much done with the whole trial bit, so I'll wrap up the current scene and the trial in one fell swoop. um... if that's okay with all of you. Also, question, the filly that Psycho's using, is it one of his kids? The earthpony filly, his only daughter?)

As the group of Falcata, Friesden, and Psycho Carrot reach Charity's office, they see the Duchess, standing there, soaking wet, the lever that they were going to pull to lower the floodgate has already been switched. Charity, approaches, the filly. "Psycho, are you still in there," the Duchess grumbles. "Yes." the filly answers. Charity's horn flashes with magic, as the strongest chains she can summon, bind Psycho. Charity begins to give the scolding of a lifetime, which includes such colorful phrases as, "You could have bucking killed us all." and "So help me Luna, if you EVER do anything like this again, I will personally, bind your soul to an eternity in an adamantine bedpan!"

Once the ranting is finished, Charity sentences Psycho Carrot to removing the water from the lowest levels that can't be drained into the caverns.

(I'll assume a spirit capable of bringing down the roof on all of us can figure out a way to move a few tons of water. Also, I'll imagine Ironya will have a few things to say to you after you flooded her forge, and DESTROYED her home.)

Charity also allows for Couth Darkmane to be released from custody, she mostly just wanted him removed from the trial. As Psycho, works to remove the immense quantity of water, the other ponies begin to clean up the dining hall. As that takes up most of the day and into the night the trial is resumed the next day.

(Everyone feel free to make journal entries for this day if you desire.)

Charity's Journal 7th Slate 99

This trial has been just awful. Demons, ghosts, unrest, the roof nearly collapsed and killed me, then the pipes burst. All mostly Psycho Carrot's fault. Seems even the loss of his body won't keep that pony down, his spirit is haunting the town in spite of his body resting in pieces in the wooden casket Khenal made, up in the tower. I am concerned about this spirit, Psycho has always been, unstable, and in this new form he is much much more dangerous, when this trial business is over, I'll talk to Khenal and see if he knows any ways that we might help Carrot move on to his eternal reward. The trail is all over but the shouting, however, I think I've already made up my mind.
_______________________________________________________________________________

(I will make a few assumptions about what others will do during the end of the trial. Forgive me.)
The morning comes, the now mostly dry dinning hall has been set up for the trial once more. Friesden is brought forth in much the same matter as the first time. Charity opens the floor for any and all to speak,  to condemn or redeem Friesden as best they can with their words.

During this time Falcata tells how Friesden risked her life to save two drowning ponies during the flood. And Couth tells the story a second time. Others speak, including Thundersplinter, Ironya, and Pillomino, of the mare they were once friends with. Some more ponies speak out in disbelieve of the evidence, claiming Khenal was pulling the wool over everyponies eyes.

Eventually, after several hours of chaotic bickering. Charity calls for silence, she takes the finally statements for Isos and Friesden. And then Charity stands to make what may be the most important speech she has ever had to make in her lifetime.

(I was going to put the verdict right here but know, I have something I'm waiting, on. You'll get to find out what happens soon. Naturally feel free to write out any last thoughts you might be having before the verdict is spoken.)

(I think it would be a good idea to arrange some sort of dinner for the character's, in which they talk about their pasts, and it'll give Dsarker an opportunity to introduce they're new character.)

If we do do that, I'm going to want to pick a new pony for that. I'm sort of thinking of playing a Ciaphas Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM! type character.

((Now this I can get behind!  Bonus points if you have a Jurgen pony by your side at all times.))

Falcata's Diary - 7th Slate, 99

I knew today would be interesting, but it turned out to be moreso than anypony could have predicted.

I didn't get to see a lot of the trial, because somepony named Couth Darkmane decided to interrupt and make some wild accusations that prompted the duchess to place him in custody for the rest of the trial.  I got the job of escorting him to the cells, and on the way down I saw that the hospital had somehow burst into flames.  The fire was too far progressed to be able to guess if it was intentional or not, but regardless it was a major disruption, and it's going to be some time before the hospital is back to full service.  Nicolta Tesla was in the hospital at the time, but we managed to save him, thank goodness.

Then as I was returning to the courtroom, the ceiling collapsed and flooded the dining hall from the damaged plumbing.  Friesden was released, and as I tried to secure her she pulled me from the flooding room.  I won't say she saved my life, but she did probably save me from some time in the now-defunct hospital.

She did save two other pony's lives today though.  As the waters flooded into the lower levels, she selflessly swam down to the cells to rescue Couth and Nicolta.  I went after her to help, but it was definitely Friesden's actions that saved their lives, not mine.  I made all of this clear to the duchess in my report.

I don't know if it makes much difference.  The pony I saw today wouldn't have intentionally killed anypony, but I've dealt with murderers and serial killers before, and they're usually quite adept at hiding their intentions and personalities.  I am grateful to Friesden for her help today, but I'm not convinced yet that she is completely innocent.  Perhaps if I'd witnessed everything everypony else did in the trial I would feel different.

I wonder now what the duchess' final verdict will be.  I've told her everything from my point of view, as true as I know it.  It's in her hooves now.  At this point, I don't know what I want her decision to be.  Everypony makes mistakes, and I think perhaps Friesden has suffered enough for any she has committed.

Regardless, I am completely exhausted.  Now that I know Kris was unharmed from the flood, I'm going to sleep.  The final ruling will come tomorrow morning, and it won't do much good to agonize over it tonight.

*******

As the duchess calls the court to order for the final time, Falcata feels the anxiety begin to build within her.  What would the final verdict be?  She lets out a long breath and watches the duchess prepare to speak.  She was glad that it was the duchess making this decision, not her.

Friesden stood tall. In her heart no trace of fear remained. Whatever happened, it would happen now, and was unchangable.

She would accept it gladly.

Charity begins to speak.

"Ponies of Glitterglen, this trial has been a great stress on all of us, and now it is time to put this unpleasant business behind us forevermore. Friesden Sectlaces, I, Charity Conventulip, Duchess of the Failed Jungle, Mayor of Glitterglen, by the power of Gadan the Virtue of Angels, Igest the Fragrant Smile, and all the gods above and below, I find you innocent of the charge of murder of one Psycho Carrot, and the court hereby accepts the claim of innocent by way of temporary insanity for the murder of your father efim, on the condition that you be placed on probation for the rest of your life in Glitterglen, the details of which will be worked out in the coming days, but for now, Captain, unchain the defendant, we're done here."

Charity walks out of the hall, half expecting it to explode behind her. Charity turns right just after walking out the door, and enter's her home. She levitates a do not distrub sign onto the door, before collapsing with her husband.

"My love. Did I do the right thing," she asks.

"I don't know," replies Cryptson, "but I hope so."

"I hope so too."

Charity plans to spend the rest of the day locked in her room waiting for the emotions of the trial to settle before she braves the outside world again.

(That's fine Dsarker, but just to make sure you are aware. The earthpony is in the guard under Captain Isos, and and the royal is serving under Captain Crest Fire. If that's fine with you, then I'll name them and post them right away.)

(eh, Sure why not, you won't be the first to do so. Do you want me to move one or both into different squads?)

((Both into the same squad, please))

Friesden stands stock still. She doesn't even move as her chains are undone. She says merely "I'm free, Khenal," before she collapses.

Otik places a hoof on Starkey's withers, hoping to soothe his nerves.

She is worried.

Not about Friesden - okay, yes, she is worried about Friesden, but that's not what occupies her mind right now. She is worried about her Captain. How will he take this? If the worst happens, what will he do? Look what happened when one of his squadmates was killed. What's going to happen if he loses one of his dearest friends? Last time, circumstances precluded any punishment, but... what if he isn't that lucky this time?

'Sisters, please let them show mercy. For both their sakes.'

The verdict is passed. The chains are removed. Somewhere, on the edge of her consciousness, a faint 'You're welcome.'

Sorry about the quadruple ninja doom, but if you think that's bad I was once ninja'd by 35 posts at once in this thread during one of our peak posting times. It was crazy.

However, I don't think you need to cross all that out, it's all still valid. Maybe instead just add. "And then Charity spoke, Friesden was being pardoned." and then include the character's reactions to the verdict, or something like that. It's up to you.

Also, Dsarker here you go.
Anias Abel http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41621737/Anias%20Abel.png
Schmutz http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41621737/Schmutz.png
Edit: Moved Anias into the second slot (which has been free since Psycho died and Isos was moved up) in the Fortress Guard, (he is still equipped with a crossbow) so he and Schmutz are both guards now.

Anias' Diary, 8th of Slate, 099.M1

Well, this trek through the jungle has been about as interesting as I like. Thankfully the princess' administrative drone didn't question my emigration to such a backwater fort. With any luck, there'll be no fighting, and nothing of any sort of interesting there. My hoof was twitching, though, and that was never a good sign. This whole mission was shaping up a lot like that assignment to Bakedarmour, and if I'd known what was going to happen there, I'd have run away into hiding. Hopefully this wouldn't go as bad.

Schmutz's Diary

Psoriasis was the same today. Commissar said not to worry. I wasn't planning on doing so, but if he said not to, must be good that I wasn't.

Hope this Glitterglen has plenty of tanna. Nearly ran out on the trek here.

((I'll just assume that Schmutz is arriving.))
The Filly sneaks off duty to see about bothering Khenal. She finds him, but he's as unresponsive as a rock. She does everything possible to get his attention, from making faces, to poking and biting, but still no response. She eventually decides to sneak to the entrance, and watch the fauna.

All of a sudden, she sees a small group of ponies in the distance.
