Sounds fun, might give it a go.
Any rules or goals?
Like one might be compelled to survive as long as possible compared to other players, but that would be moot if it's ok to wall off or use danger rooms etc.
Also no further modding or raw editing I take?

The entire point is that you are supposed to do whatever the hell you want, so we get to see just how unique everyone is. Go wild, do what you want.

Also, at least one civilization might be dead; mine has no important leaders. Can anyone confirm/deny this? I'll be updating once I hit the one-year mark.

Nice embark, but is there any way to get rid of those horrible dwarf tiles and replace them with nicer ones?

What I found out:

a. Migrants are !!RANDOM!! One wave, a near-master marksman and his peasant entourage. Re-gen, civilians and a legendary planter.

b. Sieges are X!RANDOM!X. Summer, ambush. Re-gen.

"Ahh, another beautiful summer day, good thing there aren't any ambushes."

"Yes, there are sieges now..."

c. Megabeasts  :-\ . Looks like these are randomly chosen to what lives currently. (Or semi's, got those too)

Seemed to me as well, one dwarven civ had no sites.

hmm... what mod is it you are using for this?

The world was generated as vanilla with the addition of several of the weaker Fort Defense civilizations.
Question answered?

And I'm going to start playing in a few minutes. I'll post screenshots if something interesting happens, but otherwise I'll just do a yearly summary or something.

This seems to be everyone's strategy :P And I just got merchants, which means the Mountainhomes are still alive and kicking.

I'll definitely try later.  No guarantees if it will work though.  I usually play a 2x2 embark with 5 z-levels and one cavern with no magma layer.  Very weak computer.  Still, I can bear some frame issues for SCIENCE's sake.

Then what did you get? It's just the region folder, that's all there is to download.

When you unzip it, you're likely creating another folder (regionAWESOME contains another folder called that).  Drag the folder INSIDE the unzipped folder into your saves folder.  Err, does that make sense?

Argh! A vile force of darkness arrived in late winter - not even a year here! Good thing I was inadvertantly prepared - retactable bridge, go!

Dem dark stranglers. I think I'll just hole up in the fortress with my 15 dwarves until I think up something better to do.
