At the Jarl's seat,Jormunds audience

The Jarl looked a while in silence at the man before him.

An Ex...Knight? So what happened, why where you discharged of your service? And what brings you into my lands? Wouldn't a post somewhere in Brighthall have been better suited for the likes of yours?

Even Later, Johnstons Audience
the Jarl went over the reports and frowned at his steward.

First of all my good friend, the Ewans aren't existing anymore. And secondly, as far as i know i am the only one with the title of Jarl. The Kinleys have a Chieftain, Doc. But that are only minor mistakes which i don't really care about. But other things you need very good explanations for. Why has this stranger , i think Jormund was his name, recieved land and command over my soldiers? And still another question arises, who has allowed you to give the title of Herse to the McHale chief? He hasn't done any significant to earn this title, nor did you have the rights, even as my steward to give this honor to anyone...I leave you that, you've increased the size of my Jarldom massively, but you overstepped your boundaries at many points...

a vicious grin entered the face of the Jarl. The 2 Guards who had brought the doctor in, stepped closer and Reg who had stood motionless and silent now grabbed the grip of his axe.

Tell me Doctor, how what shall i do with you. You did well but ignored orders, and overstepped your rights, apart from the fact that some of my men reported misusings from your side. I hear you killed survivors of a battle to death but didnt punish the Commanders...and that you have beaten messengers nearly to cripples for just doing their job. This is something i can't tolerate. I might be a cruel man, some may even call me babaric but i am fair and treat my men well when they do their jobs. So tell me my "faithful" vassal, what shall i do with a man like you?

Kain was staring at the maps laid out in front of him, with a small smile playing on his lips.
He quickly wrote out another letter with a grin and handed it to the messenger boy.
"Take this to Amarillys...Tell her that I need Lightningblade sent to my qaurters here in the palace, immeditaly."

The Doctor looked uneasily around him, a bead of sweat appearing on his forehead. "Well, uh... The promotion of the McHales was temporary. I assumed that when he was no longer needed you would simply dismiss him or something of the sort. I have not beaten survivors of  a battle to death. I beat one man, but that was simply an overreaction. You, Corv, made me beat the survivors of the battle against the McEwans to death. They were being defeated and they did what any man would do. You complain that I throw your soldiers away, but when they do not fight to the death you have them beaten." Growing slightly angry at the Jarl accusing him for beating innocent several innocent man to death, when he had beaten only one, he became a bit more brave. "Jormund received land because he destroyed a large threat to us. He almost died taking down those monsters. He has no control over your soldiers, only over his. The villagers couldn't work for several weeks without being afraid that they might die. What have you done, besides start this Jarldom up? You let your friend, or whatever he is, kidnap a noble from a country you tried allying yourself with. You have angered two very large tribes. Tribes that could wipe us out if they wanted to. But did you make an attempt to ally yourself with them? No. If you like it or not, I strengthened this tribe. I may have crossed the line once or twice but that was for the good of us. So, 'mighty' Manskinner, would you strike me down where I stand? The man who has done what you couldn't, for fear of losing his soldiers? I have struck down a commander in the last battle. I have strengthened your army, even if they are somewhat new, and I have made great progress. Now you ask me what you shall do with me? I would suggest you turn over your Jarldom to me, but that would probably make you angry and just kill me for no good reason. So I will suggest that you let me continue my service to you, and hope that I'll continue to lend you my skills as a Doctor."

OOC: Ok, wow. I come back from one week of camp, and there's not only 20 more pages of YOU ARE KING, but also 100 pages of OOC stuff. I'm going to have to spend the rest of the day reading up, I'm afraid.
I'll check in when I know what's going on. If Manning is dead or something, whatever, but within a couple hours I shall be informed.
I'm a little bit scared to look at the wiki now. Last time I was here it was brand new.

Jarod dressed more seriously and shaved quickly after the message. "Immediately" was not going to happen, of course, but at least he could hurry. He got into his boiled leather armor (he had a feeling he might need it) and left. There was practically nothing left in the house... Except half a ducat, hidden under the floor of his chamber. No one knew it was there, save the duelist.

Ride to meet Kain, and be quick about it.

Drua sits in her cabin on board the ship and sighs, going over some formulas and recipes she had packed with her. The sea was too moving to conduct any experiments, they had been blown off-course, but it wasn't all bad. She had caught up on some reading she had acquired from Suul, a very interesting little package on how different religions formed and prospered. What Drua liked most about the work was not the content, which she found extremely dry, because she knew there were two types of religions: those that wanted to burn you and varying degrees of everything else from the others. The thing she liked most about the work was the way it seemed to be an easy introduction to the topic, and she wondered if she could do the same for alchemy and herbalism...

Start work on an Encyclopaedia of Alchemy and Herbalism while the voyage across the sea continues.

The Elbrethian Library...

(Ludwig 2-1) Try as you might, you can't find anything on potions in the castle archives. In fact, aside from a collection of old tax records, the only thing to be found in the Elbrethian archives are the works of a Chronicler known as Locanil. Eventually your search begins to put you in the way of the head archivist, Berte, and you are kicked out and banned from the archives for the rest of the season.

The Southern Eelspine Range, Early Spring...

(The Nahk) You treat the Suulian farmers like you would any other member of the clan. The next day they are gone.
(Kytuzian 4) At The Nahk's behest the Elementalists work to patch you up to the best of their ability. You will not be able to walk around without aid or eat solid foods until late spring, but you're conscious and you can struggle to make some small words -- though it hurts like a thousand hells. By next year your wounds will have fully healed, but your lips will never recover fully, leaving you with a permanent slur, and your mouth and stomach will be scarred and disfigured; a permanent reminder of the Nahk's punishment for your attempt at freedom.

The Weyland Highlands...

(Sir Joseph 1) The first question is: "Ride on what mount?"
The second is "Where?" as it appears that the ambushers now have you surrounded. As you stand their contemplating your situation, the ambusher calls out again: "'ey! Drop th' sword!" It doesn't seem like their intent is to kill you, though you can never be sure.
What do you do?

The Jarl stood slowly up his face blank. Pacing from one end of the dais to the other he thought for a moment before answering.

You presume too much good doctor. You are in my lands here, in my house and dare insult me? A very brave move indeed. If you have not forgotten you are my vassal and as such you should to follow my orders and you would do well to keep your insolence to yourself. And as far as i remember you attacked the tribe who was more willing to talk while you send messengers to the others and we both know the end of the song. And concerning your Qualms about the justice of our armies: it is quite easy and i thought especially a man of your intelligence would understand it:the men who were executed after the Battle with the Ewans showed cowardice in a battle that could otherwise have been won with far less losses. The other survivors however fled after their whole leadership ran and were in a position they ended up in this trap due to the pure blindness and carelessness of their commanders. If anybody you should have executed the commanding officers, in this case Jormund. I have analyzed your battles in general and what McMurray's sons and reg have told me, tells me that you are unfit for military leadership. You might have won victories but only through the loyality and steadfastness of our soldiers. And there is still the point with McHale. I currently can't offer him lands and i certainly do not want someone to have the position as Herse without any deed he had done. All in all i can only see that you are disquietingly insolent and mistaking my goodwill towards you as weakness of mine. Bring him in

the Great Double Doors of the Hall opened and another pair of guards escorted the McHale Chieftain in.

Greetings, Greg McHale i presume? I am sorry to say that i can't leave you with the title of Herse with clear conscience. You have done no deeed to earn this position nor have you proven yourself in battle. On another point my good steward heere has overstepped his boundaries and needs something to make it clear to him what his position is. There fore you two will fight to the death. If you win McJohnston, i will forget your petty insults and your crimes. You may even keep your position as Herse although in anyway you will not keep your position as Hônd. If you win McHale you may keep your title and additionally you will get the lands of McJohnston. However if any of you should try and refuse this duel. You will be banned from my lands and relieved of all your positions and posessions. Oh and the Mark of the Traitor will be branded in your cheek.

Order McHale and the Doc to fight each other in a Duel to the Death. Specifics are mentioned in the post. If anyone tries to resist kill him...

(Full post will follow later this evening, just slotting this in.)

The ship heading back to preston continues at a normal pace. The crew should prep for the worst though

I wait with the Runner for the return of d'Avistral

The ship advances towards your cargo ship at high speed.  The captain recognises the type, an oar-banked sloop of the kind typically brought out of the Suulian shipyards.  Someone on the ship is waving flags; semaphore.

-Surrender.- reads the cycling message.  -Allow boarding.  Ship, crew will be spared.  Knights John.-

The reputation of the Knights of St John is widespread - an order of chivalric pirates sponsored by the Archbishopric of Suul, in theory founded to attack Taloisist shipping but often seizing on any target of opportunity.  What will the captain do?

Now that the majority of the commotion had died down, it was time to slowly start to introduce the true faith to the people of Miring. Knavston was sure even the nobles were surprised at how gentle the transition to King Erik's rule had been.

Whether it was out of respect or genuine interest many nobles had taken up the Grand Master on his offer when he threw a Springtime renewal feast which he took as a good sign. Soon the people of Miring would understand the true greatness of King Erik and his divine appointment from God himself.

The coin he would use was from the Order's own coffers. The entirety of Preston's taxes had gone directly to Sheepstead. He hoped that the King would arrive soon and he could ask for defensive funds directly, but he might have to ask in a letter to raise crown troops in Preston to ensure that all it's borders remain scouted and secure. The thought of the vanished catapults still troubled the Grand Master and he didn't have the strength to hold much outside the Fortress if he decided to scout himself. Perhaps he would ask the King to send an aide.

Preston also had need of economic recovery. The sheer amount of looting had forced many to flee and the Cyclicists were obligated to help those who were willing to spend to rebuild and assist. A money lender of sorts, lending to those of the true faith to establish themselves and repair this land.

Spend 2 ducats to hire 1 missionary from the Eelspine Cyclicist Temple. Have them travel to Preston to begin preaching the true faith next season.

Spend three ducats on opening a Bank (Commercial Business, size I) in Preston.

Jarod entered in the quarters, and closed the door behind him. He had a smile when he saw Kain, and started talking quickly.

"You wanted to see me, sir... And here I am. What's your orders?"
