Hour Three

The emergency broadcast is cast, but everyone seems to ignore it for more news. In the attempt to make a funcuioning safe zone, you accidentally let in an infected. The entire safe zone is overrun with zombies within the hour. The milita has been formed, with 55 members. The military denies your request for the fact that the weapons you currently have seems perfectly fine for the situation. The army base gives you their assets.

20% of general population infected.
70% of general population uninfected.
Most infested area: Times Square.

Start employing the use of controlled fires. A small group of people will lure the zombies towards them, then they light a match and make a wall of fire. The zombies will walk right through it getting severly burnt.

An open space? Naaaaah. In the hospital, if the door falls, you can just shut the corridor. If the corridor falls, you can shut the stairs. If the stairs falls, you can shut yourself in the highest floor. In an open space, if the barricades are destroyed, everyone dies.

Open spaces allow the group to see everything around them, and besides hospitals are the worst place to go.

if the highest floor falls, they all die.

Employ sistematical annihilation of human beings.
kill any living being who is between the zombie and the humans. leaving an "empty zone" to stop infection.
Use all helicopters with fire on sight order. they must aim to create fire and be napalm equipped.
Make it the second vietnam, but slaughter them all.

acquire control of public news and destroy camera equipment for safety measure. trasmit fake news to command post stating that infected are too many. nearly overrunning the population. Control information. proceed to extermination of near to infected humans and infected. Dead bodies don't distinguish between dead zombie and dead human.
Ask for napalm and phospore grenades. use them in conjunction with shermans fire tanks (which must be urgently required).
give a really worse situation than it is. to obtain more.

I like this plan, even though i imagine it will consume the city in fire. :)

Close off the overrun safe zone, back-up exits made unusable and the gate will be closed.  At least we've contained some zeds...
I don't know what sort of weapons you got...  but if possible, attract zeds to center of the overrun safe zone and bomb it, making sure not to damage the barricades.

Try to form another safe zone, noone on foot gets in after its done.  Have 20 soldiers sweep and purge the safe zone, multiple times.  The detectable dying/infected are escorted out/shot.  Only the choppers can get in and out.  Their discretion to bring in survivors and 'troops' if we have a way to detect infection.... Our choppers probably need refueling soon....  in a safe place.

Well, I'm hoping the times square/zed hunting patrols are still being done, considering it.  Same numbers -casualties as before?

But our main force is built of police officers and militians. You think they are going to shoot down civilians?

I think with the massive numbers of zombies in times squares, no zone is gonna be safe until we secure this one. Maybe we could dynamite the metros under that place, causing it to collapse on itself?

that's why killing orders are given to soldiers and helicopters.
policeman and militamen are worthless and usually end up being the first victims because they see family friend zombified and DO NOT shoot.
give harsh orders to soldiers, heck, they'll do it.
use militiamen as lure and bait. giving them a suicide-hope mission to reach the square infected, because there lies a "cure". they'll bring with them all the rest.
then begin mass extermination like planned.
