Go into hull, armor, and shields, in that order, with a spattering of laser and cannon.  Mount ships primarily with cannon, or with exotic weapons like railguns if available.  Cannons go on larger ships, lasers go on smaller ships.  Rush everything.

Will remember and do I have been focusing on these and launchers. Also, i mainly pilot the biggest ship. Good choice?

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Pretty much yes.  Big ships pwn little ships.  I think even the massive freighter will take down smaller ships if you're smart about it.

Well, thats pretty neat. I find we have a SPAZ thread right when I'm playing the game again, though I'm using the Big Fight For Beef multimod, which makes turrets rather awesomely awesome I'd say. (It also starts you with 6 ship slots, woop)

I'm hoping the developers were aware of the rather interesting design cohesion involved in outfitting a Mule with a fixed turret mod and putting a huge mining laser on that hardpoint.

I mean, sure, there's the efficacy involved in having a cargo ship that can chip away at the big asterezes...  But the, um, "aesthetics" of this particular combination in action is somewhat noteworthy.

Ah, penis jokes.

Was there a boost to the crew cannons? When I tried them you couldn't recover your own boarders, and your boarders killed enemy crew so no one ejected. You basically ran your ship out of crew and never recovered any, so after every fight I had to stop and get more goons somewhere. It felt like I could have been more productive just shooting everything to bits and moving on.

I think I used missiles the way you guys are using bombs. I did use deployable turrets on Helices for some of the escort missions, and that made those a ton easier.

One piece of general advice: I thought it would be fun to try and bribe my way through the game. It isn't... and almost precludes getting any bounty hunter ships. I was disappoint.

Any boarders still aboard the enemy ship when it blows up will escape via pods.  And, occasionally, one or two "ghost" crewmembers who were apparently hiding from the massacre...  They won't show up on the ship's stats before it blows, but there will be a couple enemy pods ejected.

But yeah, any survivors from the fighting will be recoverable.  That is, of course, provided you manage to pick them up in time and don't let anyone get shot.

EDIT:  Also, grunt shuttles can be lots of fun to play with if you're just wasting time some place.  High crew capacity ships can keep a constant stream of dudes flinging out into space and zooming around to come back, or just...

...

I think I've discovered a new potential use for the primary mount on the Mule.

As far as i can see goon guns/pods are asimetrical warfare weapons.
They usually let technically worse ships do HORRIBLE things to ships that outclass them in most areas.

However beyond that i see little reason to use them.

Oh, yeah, that's one other thing...  About 30% of all blueprints I have (systems and weapons) came from boarding parties randomly hacking the information off of irritating ships I needed to deal with.

There have been several times I've looked in the hangar and opened up the options for a particular slot, then wondered aloud "Where the heck did THAT come from?".

Yeah, the odds for getting bonus schematics for ships seemed low last time. Maybe I'll give it all another go and see what's changed. Lots of this doesn't sound that familiar.

Attacking a science station, I hear in the comm: "The hull has been breached and all the science is leaking out!!". Priceless.

You need to add more emphasis on the last part, I quite remember the guy shouting about THE SCIENCE IS LEAKING OUT!! more than the actual hull breach ;D

Obviously, science leakeage is far more important than a hull breach.
