Has anyone experimented with ballistas?

I did, a little bit.  I think they might be intended as a specialist NPC weapon, (there is a type that always carries a ballista,) because other crossbows seem to out-perform them.  The only advantage I can think of for using them is raising your armor weight class.

I am more of a planner, while most other people around here try to break the game as hard as possible...

A speedrun of a game with so many random things would be pretty hard to do.

Does not seem like there's much planning needed if you aren't exploiting the system.

There was someone attempting a no death speedrun on the elona forums awhile back. It ended when he died on the way down lesimas. If I recall it was vanilla elona, and just a forum post write-up, no video unfortunately. And here even found the link.

ah, patchy - ruining my life with knowledge gained by reading. how appropriate (just kidding).

There are three types of speedruns.
1: least ingame time.
2: Least real world time.
3: least turns used.


... i think i'll try the third.

With my new char I went and got a pet with cooking, but so far I have only received breakfast once. So are there any other requirements other than waking up in the morning?

Fixed breakfast event so it would not still trigger for pets that were lower than Best Friend relationship.

For breakfast... Go to sleep at night at quarter to midnight. Best time to get breakfast.

By the time you are in act two you will have all the skills so its not that different. Basically magic pawns everything by then, plus you get pets you can ride and have 400 speed.

Seems that breakfast is served from 5 to 9, Not simply when it says "morning".

Looked at this game.  Reminded me of expanded nethack with a graphcs pack..
