Summary of the situation : the reactor 1,2,3,4 have been struck by explosions, one pool with depleted fuel in it is on fire, radiation level are rising so much that safety of the personnel in the control room is seriously compromised and the cuve of the reactor N°2 is damaged. Source guardian.
Please do make use of better sources, and refrain from spreading misinformation.

There was no explosion at Unit 4. The fire in the spent fuel containment facility has been put out by 2am GMT.

Outdated information. There was a hydrogen blast at reactor 4 that blew two 8 metre holes in one wall of the outer building.

Units 1, 2 and 3 are at cold shutdowns, and being cooled of residual heat(http://www.world-nuclear-news.org/RS_Cold_shutdowns_at_Fukushima_Daini_1403112.html). Unit 4 is in the process of being cold-shut. The pressure/temperature control system of Unit 2 apparently breached, releasing some radioactive gases, and increasing radiation to 8mSv/h for a short time, having decreased significantly by now. Main problem here is restarting the cooling process.
Wrong power plant. There are two NPP's at Fukushima, Fukushima I (dai-ichi, lit. nr 1) and Fukushima II (dai-ni). The four reactors at Fukushima II are securely shut down although 3 of the reactors had cooling issues at one point.

Alright, Reuters is reporting that the japanese will attempt to dump water into the burning compund, also the US fleet is moving to the west coast to avoid the radiation clouds and thus aid is delayed again.

Hahaha, that's the worst case of use of sources and failed reading comprehension I've had so far, I believe.
Thank you sir. I've just lost all credence as a news provider.

International news media have done the same name mixup so much the last couple of days (one of the reasons there are sometimes conflicting reports about rising and dropping radiation levels), that the japanese english language news channel makes a point of explaining the difference every couple of hours now.

Event upgraded to 6 out of 7 on the international 'oh shi* we broke our reactor' scale. With Chernobyl being the only 7 thus far, and 3 Mile Island being a 5.
Temperatures in reactors 5 and 6 slowly rising now.

With all the other issues going on, it's starting to feel more like "oh shi* we broke Japan". Even though it's only two or three prefectures that are really heavily affected, and not even terribly populous ones at that.

Yeah, they have been quiet as fuk about the dai-ichi plant today, while putting out hourly press releases about the dai-ni plant were everything is going perfectly fine.

Also, just so everyone is clear about it ;) :

I hadn't posted yet but I've been following this topic and keeping up to date with any news. As others have noted this is the last thing Japan needs right now with how their debt problems and the world wide economy crisis. I wish them all the best.

One thing that confuses me is when people say it's worse than Three Miles but not as bad as Chernobyl. It doesn't seem very descriptive of the situation as, ignoring what happened in the UK, hasn't there only been three such events? How bad is it compared to what happened at Chernobyl?
