Try playing on the highest difficulty level in Civ II. I remember getting mauled by a lone barbarian warrior a turn after I settled my town.
And thus was the civilisation of Reudhland destroyed in turn 2.

Killed a whole group of superbaddies who left molten lava wherever they walked. I was heavily wounded, and was waiting for my magical armor to repair at least some of the damage before I went any further, when the bad guys' bodies exploded. Damn you, nightmare mode.

After a few Hell runs in Cave Story and failing each time, reaching up to Ballos only by chance and almost always getting killed by that giant press boss because of adrenaline rush, I just said "f*ck this", and downloaded a cheat off the net.

I still feel ashamed, that I've yet to kill him legitimately.

That was my first hell run. Took me four tries to figure out how to use the booster lightly enough to get past the very first platforming puzzle. Tried again.

On my second hell run, I defeated the press but died to Ballos' first form. :(
