Dark magic can't be used for enchanting. Oh, we'd fill those goblins with chain shrapnel, I'll give you that. But lightning would have a higher chance of killing them.
I'm hearing weird noises in my house, so some of this might not make much sense due to my distraction.
About the ice melting portion, we can't heat the ice up to melt it, but we can make it so close to being almost above freezing that it melts quickly on its own.
I exit the basement, then ask the man for a sturdy chain. He provides me with a decent chain under the condition that I don't steal it. Curses!
I work on sending lightning through the chain, and wrap a portion of it up so I can hold it without frying my arms off. I'm not sure how a measly piece of cloth will not only block the electricity, but also block the heat of the electricity, but I'm undead, so why should I care?
I swing the chain around, and fry a few goblins. I make some ice on the ground, melt the ice, and then toss the chain into the puddle. Most of the goblins saw my plan, and managed to dodge the deadly shock. I cut off the mana supply to the enchantment, then wait for the electricity to fade. There are still a few goblins left, so I blast them with ice.
I help with the cleanup by reanimating the corpses and having them walk out of town. The guards string the corpses up on sticks, I guess goblins think like crows, or something.
This farce has been going long enough. The merchant gives me the promised weapons, then says he'll improve my sword as an added bonus, nice!
I don't have much time before I need to meet with master, so I ask the priest if I can have the book with the most accurate-sounding information on Lich, then rush to the inn.
Master's waiting, and he looks angry.
Master: "Why weren't you in the tournament...? "
Me: "I, uh, I had something important to do..."
Master: "You had something important to do in a town you just came to...?"
Me: "Yeah..."
Master: "Alright, explain."
I tell master about the broker, and the information he gave me about the boy. Master questions why I'm so intrigued by a cursed one, and I honestly didn't have an answer for him. I show him the book, and he says that he'll let me study it whenever I have enough time. Though he won't let me skip tournaments, or training for it.
He also tells me that I should take a few jobs in the next town so I can buy a book on black magic so I'm not completely blind to the subject of the dark gods.
We leave town the next morning, then continue on the trail. I decided to name my horse Lancelot, I'm hoping I can earn it a title in a tournament. After a while of peaceful travels we're ambushed by a group of bandits. Master tells me to defeat them all without spilling a drop of blood. How does he expect me to do that?!
