Well, we're doomed, so I might as well go out fighting. I blast a few shots of dark magic at the hobgoblin because its face was pretty... Not good looking... The hobgoblin dies instantly, surprisingly enough. I guess I'm stronger in dark magic now?
Claire sends a few bolts of light and pyro magic at the giants. Two survive, but are damaged enough that I can probably do something. If I can make a squirrel corpse cave in its skull for no reason, I can make these guys do the same! I toss a stick at them, then they proceed to smash their heads in. Their re-dead undead corpses fall on two of the spiders.
I tell one of the magic academy students to take out a spider, but they're all to busy cowering in the corner. Claire and I finish off the spiders, and go back to report this to the dean. I feel ashamed at those students.
Trine asks if I want to train under him tomorrow, and I accept. He's probably a match for even the Archknight himself, so why wouldn't I accept lessons from him?

I look at the town from the camp, and feel drawn to it for some reason.
Me: "Master, can we go see inside the town?"
Master: "Why would you want to put yourself in danger like that?"
Me: "I don't know, curiosity?"
Master: "We'll go in the morning. Powerful fiends are drawn to cursed grounds more powerfully at night."
I go to sleep, eagerly awaiting the morning. I dream of the former Archknight, it's a sad, bloodstained dream. I wake up in shock from something, maybe indigestion? Master has finished securing our things, and tells me to get ready.
We go into the town, and search for things of interest. This town is pretty barren, even if the villagers were in it. There's no town square, no cathedral, nothing of relative importance at all. I run outside the village, and ask the chief if I can enter the buildings. He gives me consent, then I enter a small house. It's more of a shed, but I feel compelled to enter it.
I find a small emblem. Its design is intricate, and fascinating. I store it in my pocket, then tell master I'm done looking around the town. We gather our things from the camp site, then continue our journey to the next town. Along the way master teaches me a few sword, spear, and axe techniques, and I practice a bit of magic. Ever since I picked up that emblem I feel like my magic has grown stronger somehow.

The weapon dungeon can be a monster filled cave, or somewhere deeper into the same forest we were just at.
