You're talking about Milo Yiannopoulos. I don't think he's actually a pedo or anything.
clips of videos-with-audio in which he talked about his own past as a teenager who had sex with men and suggested that some young teen boys might be old enough to give consent to such sexual relationships.
He was talking about gay teens who have sex with older men, but the specific context was that he was talking about himself as a teenager. People found that squicky basically, but saying that the context is that he is a pedo is a slight stretch.
Him speaking from personal experience makes it more harmful, not less, since it gives it an appearance of credibility. He insisted that 13-year-olds can give meaningful consent (both for hetero and homo relationships) with himself as an example.
It's not his fault for having thoughts like that, or even wanting to talk about them with people. It's important to be able to talk about such things. But he presented that thought as truth to his fanbase, and the watchers of a very popular podcast (Drunken Peasants) and stood by it for the entire interview. That's directly harmful to his young fans and validated a false gay stereotype in the minds of many people.
He later pretended it was "gallows humor" and attacked people for calling it out, shaming them for attacking an abuse victim. Having demonstrated his thin skin, he continued with his profession of offending people for attention, eventually getting banned from Twitter for spamming an actress with racial slurs.
The guy needs help, but it's really harmful for him to have a platform. Fortunately people seem to have generally realized that - except for that particular kind of conservative who wants "a gay friend" to justify their homophobia.
I eventually had a falling out with the same irc after we had a fight over me wanting them to stop overtly wishing death and beatups on polito-trolls (the person in question was that gay conservative with I think a greek- or Italian-sounding name, can't remember what it was exactly, who used to go around campuses harassing trans people (the one who was very quickly dropped by the media when it turned out he was a paedophile or something)
Complete pacifism in the face of murderous armed mobs is foolish, but Antifa still has 0 kills. People like Alex Jones are getting people killed with their words, and the system isn't holding them responsible. Murder obviously isn't the answer (which is why the left isn't using it, despite the crocodile tears), but *all* laws are enforced by violence, and what they're doing should be illegal. Usually it IS illegal, but nobody's enforcing it.
