Granted, it was only a couple specific individuals who took particular issue with me, but they were more or less permanently online, sooo... Yeah.

I've got low enough self esteem as it is; I really don't need the help.

And I mean, Im a huge fan of being contrarian, and I've always had more moderated views than my friends, but enh.  Its really just easier to live and let when it comes to casual debates.

Maybe I should have used sarcasm tags? But my main point was actually about how the most antagonistic end up being winners of the space, due to anyone less self-righteous doing what you said and basically ceding the space to them, in that live and let live fashion. The "burn the heretic" people generally win because of that.

@Kagus: for people like that you can royally screw with them. Tell them the Young Republicans floated the separate-spaces for minorities idea, see them scream about it, then point out who came up with it and enjoy the revisionist squirming. It's such a basically bad idea that I suspect support for the idea is more about tribalism than the idea on its merits.

Personally most would tag me with right wing. I favour the return of sovereignity and the preservation of a British tradition - something which is desperately needed in today's world. An easier way to think of it would be as roots.

Of course, I'm not a prescriptivist. Innovation within the tradition is welcome, even essential. But that's a different matter.

So yes, the above points to a right wing identity. I find it particularly amusing when I confuse left wing people, though. Namely because I also value all the things which seem decent in today's world but which they assume to be the preserve of the Left.

Equality, toleration, the rights of the many and more tightly controlled big businesses.

Anathema to the right and the preserve of the left? Pffft. Don't make me laugh.
