Eh, yeah, a lot of people invoke that despite it not being that... "Wow", at least for me. On the other hand I learned about the self-driving properties of horses by myself (especially if it means getting back home which means, you guessed it, sugar cubes! Or apples. Or food in general), though it should be noted that some horses (mares usually don't have that problem, just like they don't have a problem with stepping on people due to " maternal instinct" that makes them more aware of those things) tend to forget that with rider their height is a bit more (says a lot about how inconvinent riders are that horses literally forget until they hear you fall down on the ground). Doesn't really matter if you sleep on it's neck but its easier to fall that way.
Also, to this day the "get drunk and let the horse handle the rest" tactic is used in some more backwards rural parts of Poland. Funilly enough, the drunk people usually have the "horse-care" thing so deeply imprinted that after their horse throws them off at the front steps they actually go to at least unsaddle it and give some fucking apples, yes better give apples or the next time you'll wake in the local lake, not in front of your home.

My aunt is fairly poor all things considered and she has a half dozen horses that she rescues and then sends out to families who want to adopt them...  so yeah, WTF thread made me WTF again today.

And yeah, horses have this weird tendency to wander back towards their home. Eventually. You gotta stop and munch on some of that sweet grass on the way, you know. And maybe hang out with the neighbor's horses. Break into their feed shed and steal some grain. Chase the wildlife.

Today was so weird.

Mel Gibson was in a good movie (What Women Want, which looked really bad but surprised me)
I went kayaking for like 4 hours with no clouds and I don't think I got burned.  Maybe on my face a little.
My arms ache from paddling.  It's oddly constant, though fairly mild.  Abs feel like I did, like, 40 sit ups (okay 10).

Between watching 4 cousins for a week at the beach with my brother, then having less than a week by myself at home, and now spending a week with my dad at the beach...  I was actually pretty miserable at home.  Which is backwards because I find the beach painful and boring.  Am I... finding comfort in being around other people?  I mean, in short bursts sure, but this has been a family-heavy two months and I'm... feeling the opposite of social burn out?  what is happening, what are these human emotions "loneliness" and "emotional support", I thought I transcended this nonsense

I'm skipping over the whole animal cruelty thing to add that here in Sweden horseriding is actually the second biggest sport. It's just that most people who participate is girls, so it doesn't get taken as serious as "real sports" - that is, sports played by men - such as for example hockey, bandy, or inside bandy.

Now horse racing and trotsport, fuck that shit. Biggest hive of scum and villainy you'll ever see.

Owning a horse is cheap where I live, not too long ago it was actually really hard to sell one, as nobody wanted them so you could get them for free if you could feed them. Feeding does cost something, but it is not a problem for a farmer, and not a big deal if you don't live in town.

Most horses don't mind being ridden, and some seem to enjoy it. Weird, but that's how it is.

I am actually really depressed that I finished the Mass Effect trilogy. Maybe it's just because it's fresh, but 24 hours later I still think of the first few notes of the ending theme and start tearing up. I have not been this upset over any piece of fiction since Toy Story 3.

Eeehhh... don't think it is any more than most fanfiction. Maybe even a bit less, oddly enough. Still plenty of romance related stuff but the actual full on fornication seemed somewhat less prevalent than usual for written stuff, last I was scrounging through ME fanfics.
