Also, I can't get away with honey. There's just some slightly... odd taste to it. Not sure what it is.

Obviously your tea is too hot. You must ice it.

Also make sure your tea is an iced tea blend or black tea, since sugaring up green tea and suchlike is a recipe for grossness.

Regular honey has always had a taste/smell kind of like stale drool to me. Gross.

It turns out there's different types of honey, though, and some of them are awesome. Basswood honey is great for lacking the spit-taste and having a slight mintyness. Buckwheat honey is also very... different and interesting. I wouldn't put it in my tea. It's dark brown and has a flavor that reminds me of soy sauce.
