I worked at a cinema for a while. At least there, the % of the tickets that went to the theather was very low the first days, and it gradually increased as time passed. Hence the real revenue (from the movie itself, leaving the popcorn deal aside. Yes, for cinemas the popcorn machine is basically a free cash machine. We made so much popcorn that at the end of the day we threw away bags full of it) for them came after the movie had been out for  a couple of weeks

We now need to develop a dance called 'The Gasmask'.

Once, I went to a theater where a "small" popcorn was $10. Medium and large were $12 and $20. They were really huge, but even so, I feel like it was way more than it should have been.

Nah, Watchdog is a general consumer advice programme with Anne Robinson (you know, the redhead semi threatening dominatrixesque host of The Weakest Link).

And cinemas were one of the recent perpetrators to come to the spotlight.

Hm, my friends are normally able to bring drinks into Cineworld.  Just as well, otherwise it'd be pretty difficult to watch long movies without paying the ridiculous markups on their drinks.

Around here it's not allowed, but they don't exactly strip search everyone who comes through the door. Unless you're blatantly carrying a Tesco bag full of coke in, they're unlikely to mention it.

Floppy disks are still useful, they're good at confusing people who find them but then get home and can't find where you put it in at because hardly anyone has a floppy drive anymore.

When I worked for the university's IT support back in the early 1990's, one of my friends had an old 8" floppy (1024K!) that he would use to screw with the new tech support folks. He'd run in, out of breath, and insist that his dissertation was on this disk and his computer had just died and PLEASE COULD THEY HELP HIM PRINT IT. Then sit back and watch their brains do gymnastics at the sight of this cartoony-large floppy disk that we had NO drives for.
