If you use a batch file to automatically encode a file at a lot of bitrates in FFmpeg, do not open a Windows Explorer window in the working directory. It will freeze, and you will have to kill the process. Look at this seemingly-innocuous batch file:

Okay, that's not particularly innocuous (or sane), but it's not like I'm trying to generate hundreds of files per second. It's not like I'm doing shit like:

But apparently even an update rate of 1 file every 5 seconds is too much for Explorer to handle.

Oh, also, be careful about using ogg or ogv files. A standard Win10 installation and Windows Explorer HATES them. Had to uninstall some kind of base windows audio thinger so that Explorer wouldn't shit the bed when I was trying to share audio snippets to friends over Steam.

I'm of the mind that a little bit of light post fare, sometimes in the form of toothless snark, is a nice conversational lubricant that helps other topics pop up or keeps posts happening because we see that 'new' title pop up and have to investigate. I don't always have a big point to make or a big list of supporting details to make it with, but you throw a little something out there and if it develops, you've helped make good conversation, right?
