Maneuver! You dodge asteroid and maneuver to match trajectory of UNNAMED asteroid, and using mechanical arm, pulled yourself down to 'land' on the moon. (Like a NINJA)

Shields -1 GJ ["Rough" Landing, no proper landing gears]

Probe! ERROR, missing tools. Relying on Optical Surveillance.
86% Surface covered in rock, minor deposits of IRON (13%) detected on surface. Trace Elements! (1%)

Energy!
+5GJ from Solar Array,
-20GJ from Thrusters!
Net: -15GJ! [0 Lost to Overcharge!]

>...

Stats:

Structural Integrity: 100/100
Armor Reinforcement: 200/200
Shields: 49GJ/50GJ
Battery: 15GJ/30GJ

Equipment: Active:
Small Mining Laser (uses 15 GJ/hour, collects 50m3/hr) [Currently offline]
Small Thrusters (100 km/hr acceleration) (Uses 20GJ /hr) [Currently Stationary (Landed on UNNAMED asteroid)]
Basic Sensors (1,000 km range) (Uses 1GJ / cycle) [Scanning Cycle Recently Completed. (2 Turns ago)]

One Arm for manipulating close objects. (~10m)

Passive:
Small Solar Array (+5 GJ/hour) [Currently near a Star]
Basic Optics (Forward only) [Gives visual data to central processing unit]
Small Battery Array (Stores 30 GJ)
Basic Shield (Capacity: 50GJ) [Converts 1GJ of energy to 1GJ of shielding, defends against small space debris and the like. Can convert shielding to energy]
Small Cargohold (Stores 500m3) [Contains: 10m3 scrap iron]

Alright, we should recharge here, and then do some mining.

See if we can't make a minfacturing plant so we can make stuff...

Identify trace elements and start up the laser.Start mining iron. only mine when facing the star.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

We should build landing gear and a larger solar array soonish, then work on nbonaparte's spectrometer.

A landing gear will be useful. Should we build a larger manufacturing facility like acanthus suggests, or a landing gear as Shades suggests?

Mining Laser Initialized! Mining IRON deposit!

Attempting to identify trace elements... FAILED! Unable to discern visually. Reason: Source too small for Optics.  (Note: think of optics like a video camera, not some highly advanced telescope or microscope, etc.)

Energy!

+5GJ from Solar Array,
-15GJ from Mining Laser!
Net: -10GJ [0 Lost to Overcharge!]

Cargo!

+50m3 of Iron Ore. Need smelting facilities.

Structural Integrity: 100/100
Armor Reinforcement: 200/200
Shields: 49GJ/50GJ
Battery: 5GJ/30GJ
Storage: 60m3/500m3

Equipment: Active:
Small Mining Laser (uses 15 GJ/hour, collects 50m3/hr) [Currently ONLINE!]
Small Thrusters (100 km/hr acceleration) (Uses 20GJ /hr) [Currently Stationary (Landed on UNNAMED asteroid)]

Note: You do not currently possess any form of factory function, save from mechanical hand, would be hard to produce anything while on this asteroid currently. Would suggest exploring.

Timelapse is available, to expediate any process, up to 24 hours per timelapse, requires three votes for. Where I will basically play out that many turns in rapid succession, incase of low energy/movement/etc necessary to move story along. will stop upon anything requiring attention however.

whoa, that laser is power hungry. okay, shut that off for now, we have plenty of iron.

Can we discern any details about the rocky planet? If so, what?

I say we either sit here and load up on iron then recharge or go exploring now for something to use the iron on, after all it's not like iron is hard to find.

We need to find a smelter.

Well, there isn't much we can do with the iron now. We may as well start exploring.

Hmm, different note. Do we have any starmaps or were those lost? I'd like to find out where we are on a larger scale.

Attempting to load Starmap.... FAILED! Starmap missing. (If anyone would like to create a map, bonus points, and may have one 'wish' [In the event of multiple submissions, best one gets prize]. My skills in paint are very limited.)

Energy!

+5GJ from Solar Arrays,
Net: +5GJ [0 Lost to Overcharge!]

Mining Laser Deactivated! Reason: Out of Energy.

Notice! Anomaly detected at bottom of mining tunnel. Possible explanation: Cavern...? Suggest Exploring.

Charge shields again while we explore, in fact by default can we recharge the shields before the battery?
