Search for an asteroid

How specifically would you like to search? Optically, or with Radar?

Welcome to the subforum!

Thank you :)

With radar.

EDIT: Aren't von neumann probes typically nanotechnology-assisted?

Search for an asteroid
With radar.

This.
I assume that is what the basic sensors are?
I think only devote spare power (so not the battery storage) into doing this. Also use 1 GJ/h of the solar array to keep the shields charging as they don't appear to be full.

Yes, typically. Not this one. Yet.

Go to the nearest asteroid, probe it for anything useful.

Eventually, we should get a spectrometer. But for now, turn and check out the unknown with optical sensors, and if it doesn't require immediate action, head for the asteroid at 220 km.

Switching to this.

This (without the move bit) and

Assess reason for damage...

Also keep charging those shields.

Note: Changed thruster speed due to a typo when writing original stats :x whoops

Now 100km/hr instead of 10km/hr, big difference lol.

Nearest asteroid is a small asteroid, Without doing anything, you will arrive at a big asteroid on start of next turn (well, within 20km), will have to spend movement to dodge the round after however.

Note, maneuvering thrusters do not consume any energy (technically they do... but such small quantities that it doesnt matter), but they are only for turning the ship.

Good plan on Spectrometer :)

MANEUVER! You turn to face UNKNOWN! but fail to see anything... strange. Possible reasons: Too small.

WARNING! Asteroid near! Crash imminent! Course correction recommended!

Assessing reason for damage... ERROR! Reason Unknown! Log file missing!

WARNING! Asteroid near! Crash imminent! Course correction recommended!

Avoid collision course and manoeuvre to match velocity of asteroid.

Yeah, this. slow to meet its speed, then land and probe.
