I don't have many reasons, but you're wrong.
The reason it says "don't run" is because if you run not only does your target probably realise you're gonna get them, but it also eventually warns them that you're there so they can run.
I played in the Beta and it was awesome, so I assume it's just as good at release.

So why wouldnt they turn around and fight you, if they wanted to?

AFAIK you can't actually fight.
The only way they can escape is by doing precisely that, i.e running the fuck away.

And there you have it :( sounds (and looks) way to straightforward and simple to be fun, for my taste.

Again, if anybody has a link to a gameplay video that actually looks interesting, id be rather grateful.

It doesn't "Eventually warn you". I've had times where I've stood next to my target for extended period of times before finally killing them. The objective is to kill them without them ever suspecting they would die, not to swordfight them to death in the streets after chasing them down. It's pretty much based off a non-video game played on campuses with the same exact concept.

It's not that I want open fights or preferred them. It's the lack of choice that seems sucky to me.

But I still dont even know for whether or not there even is an option to openly fight, what guards actually do and so on... you guys aren't exactly helpful  :P

From a single player perspective, if you hated everything about AC1 you won't like any of the other games in the series.  If you actually thought AC1 would have been good with a few improvements like say, less repetitive gameplay, then you'll love AC2 which basically did exactly that.  They fixed basically everything that sucked about AC1.  And just removed one thing that was good.  The ability to go back and play old memories again.  But you won't really mind that much when the game has so much to do.  ACB I don't know about yet but the reviews say it's exactly what fans want for what's that's worth.

Yeah, I managed to have fun with AC2 a lot longer than with AC1. But since they managed to put so much stupid in AC1, I'm still sooooo very skeptic, that things will improve.

I mean, they basically proved an unbelievable skill in putting stupid in a game, I doubt they give up the biggest skill they have.

And I said it a thousand times: it's a crying shame, because they have such a cool concept. And managing to screw that up DOES take skill.

Um... did you screw up the grammar big time in that post?  Because I have no idea what you're trying to say.

I dont know, I'm not native english spoken, I thought it was correct enough, but it's late (or rather... early) over here.

So lemme try it in caveman english: AC is good idea but done so bad I lose all my trust in those guys.

And I just want it to be a good game - finally.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot you're from um... California right? :P

So what you're saying is: Good concept, bad execution?

I'll be buying this game on PS3 if at all most likely.  I just have to decide if I can wait until it's cheaper.  I wonder if I can get someone to get it for me for Christmas or my birthday.

I'm almost from the same place that governor is from ;)

And what I'm saying is: AWESOME concept, worst possible execution, I guess. I mean, I'm still baffled by how badly they screwed up AC1. If you ever wanna see something REALLY cringeworthy, get the "making of" video of AC1, and listen to those guys. And look at them.

I played the first few hours of AC2, and I was surprised how much less bad it was, but I didnt trust that impression, because I was drunk shitfaced and still shook by the experience I had with part one.

I'm just very very skeptic, and still hope to be proven wrong when it comes to the new part. Because running around old cities and climbing roofs and stabbing folks should be fun! And not bland, repetitive and totally screwed up by cutscenes that make you wanna scoop your brain out with one of those icecream thingies.

edit: one day, I'm gonna drive a crayon up my nose, just like Homer Simpson. I bet videogames, and the world in general, will feel a lot better after that.

Well I don't think I disliked AC1 nearly as much as you did so I'm not sure how much my saying AC2 is a lot better is worth to you.  I didn't actually get all that bothered by the repetitiveness of the first game, but the second is much less repetitive.  In my opinion.  The structure is much less rigid as far as the missions go now.  Instead of completing a bunch of random mini-missions that are always roughly the same and then going to the main assassination you just have a string of missions of various types that each contribute some way to the story and culminate in a big finale for the chapter.  Also, those random pickups littered throughout the world actually give you something besides an X-BOX LIVE achievement.  There's just a lot more to do in the game that feels worth doing.  I'm not entirely sure what specifically you disliked about AC1 though so I can't say if you'll like 2 or Brotherhood.
