Could the Punisher get his hands on a flamethrower?

Well it can fit through the portal if he could steal/buy/barter for one.
Except for tanks that have flamethrowers.

On the topic of Dune characters, will Paul be all-knowing?

The Punisher is 'nearly immune' to damage, and regenerates via a 'blood stone'. He uses all the cool equipment of other superheroes, and he has limitless strength. Does he have a weakness?

He can be cut in half, which means he loses...

Does Duncan have a lasgun?  If he has both a lasgun and a shield, he's pretty damn powerful.  There is no defense against a lasgun except a shield or not getting hit.  Even if he loses a fight, he'll probably shoot his own shield with his dying breath and take the other bastard down with him.  The Punisher's regeneration won't help him too much if he's cut in half.  If Duncan has this gear his only chances are a bobby trap or hand to hand combat.  They are both very wily hunters and extremely adept at asymmetrical warfare.  I think that I'd say it's an unpredictable fight, but the odds are on Duncan's side.

No suicide attacks = no lasgun+shield.

No using lasgun on shield, having both would be fine, and Duncan seems the pragmatic type, although it is not his speciality, so he probably doesn't carry one everywhere...

With three days to prepare, I'd bet he'd grab some armaments.

Could the Punisher get his hands on a flamethrower?

Yes, probably. However, torching the whole island will not really be an option - in a forest like the one on the island, actaully setting a tree on fire is not an option - moisure levels are very high, and even if you did apply a big enough heat, the outer layers would char while the inner layers would not burn.

I believe we're using pre-ressurection Punisher, which is quite vulnerable to damage, has no blood stone, and has limited strength.

Also, what are the sensory limitations on someone using a shield? The pictures I've seen show someone wearing a shield looking blurry and distorted, is the distortion the same for someone looking out of a shield? what about sound?

Sound above a certain frequency is either dulled or entirely canceled out, due to the sound waves moving quickly. However, from what I've seen of Duncan's fighting style, he prefers to get in close and THEN use his shield, so he might actually hear an ambush. Then again, if he had it up it'd be much harder to ambush him.

If he doesn't have it up normally, it would give the punisher the opportunity to simply shoot him from afar. Of course, that does bring up the issue of power consumption, if he were to have it up constantly. Either way, I think I'm going to call it now.

Winner: The Punisher

From what I can tell, the punisher is going to be slightly (but not much) more sneaky than duncan. When they encounter, if Duncan has his shield down, the punisher will simply shoot him. If he had his shield up, the punisher will toss a bomb. Although this will not kill him directly, he will suffer very bad burns, incapacitating him to a degree. At that point, the punisher will be able to finish him off with little to no trouble.

Next round: Mr. Miyagi VS Eddie Riggs

What. I'm gonna have to call BS on that one. A single bomb won't dissipate heat fast enough through a Holtzmann shield to inflict that many burns. Duncan could just move away faster than the heat would get in.

Spoiler: As decribed by Virex (click to show/hide)

Does the Punisher actually have so good of aim that he can land the bomb next to Duncan without it hitting his shield and flying away?

Well, here's another thing: How windy is this island? If there's any wind whatsoever, air's not going to get inside that shield. Duncan won't be able to keep it up for longer than maybe 30 seconds at a time or else he'd suffocate. Those windows of time are all the Punisher would need to kill him.
