If I thought Bandages looked scummy I'd have voted him from the getgo.  I was operating under the assumption that scum will try to capitalize on his frequent newbslips by either pushing a lynch on him or simply lurking.  What you claim are my efforts to defend him are my attempts to nip those possibilities in the bud, and further my own scumhunting.  If I was scum and trying to buddy someone, I certainly wouldn't pick the guy who's actively getting himself lynched.  Of course, these points are moot, as of this post:
I give up.  Bandages.  Burn him.  Burn him alive.

As for worrying about scumchat?  I'm not worried about it.  I am thinking about it, is all, and I took a shot in the dark.  It's likely missed, now that I've explained it, but I never had anything riding on it, and can always take another in the future.

FAKEEDIT

Bandages, scum defending town to look like town is the definition of buddying.  Cript knows what he's talking about, and you are starting to look better and better as a Day 1 lynch choice.

Cript, that's not WIFOM.  That's just plain idiocy.

Ohh this is starting to get interesting. You defend your scummy self by bandwagoning on the idiot? Whats more, you did what you said scum would do, push for a vote on bandages, and by your definition this is scummy. Makes me wonder...

And what scumhunting? You haven't done any other than poking at inactive players. That was just once.

And don't you dare deny what bandages said is WIFOM:

That's just what a scum would want us to think.

This is the VERY DEFINITION of WIFOM.

But I do agree with getting rid of bandages day 1, he's being no help to town like this, best to be rid of him now.

You say all I'm doing is poking inactive players?  You're right.  Congratulations.  You've figured out my current scumhunting tactics.  RVS stopped too soon, what with Bandages stealing the spotlight, for anyone to drop anything that I consider worth further investigation.  As a result, I don't have any particularly pointed questions to ask yet, so the best way to get something worthwhile to drop is to keep everyone talking.

What Bandages said is not WIFOM.  It is Circular Reasoning.
Circular Reasoning =/= WIFOM
It's certainly a major part of WIFOM, but mistaking it for the whole is silly, as is arguing about the definition of WIFOM.

How can you say I voted Bandages to defend myself from your accusations?

If you compare the timestamps on these quotes, you'll find I voted Bandages long before you accused me of buddying.
I give up.  Bandages.  Burn him.  Burn him alive.
Lonewolf, if we lynch bandages, we lynch him because we think he's scum not town, we can do our own reasoning. Trying to defend a scummy looking player without reason is called buddying in my opinion, and that is scummy.
Why are you buddying?
Since no one else has even suggested that I might be buddying, I have to assume that you are making stuff up, which is certainly worth further investigation. Unvote.
As for whether or not I was bandwagoning, I believe I've made it clear that I had voted him for the same reasons you stated.  Namely, he's useless and should be excised.

Why, Zako?  Why claim that I was defending myself when I voted Bandages, when there were no relevant accusations to defend myself from at the time?

Furthermore, while going back over your posts, I found this little tidbit:

Bandages made a large slip up early. He looks like scum to me, but since everyone knows he's scum I will focus on someone else, namely...

Fairly strong claims, even now.  At the time you said this, Diablous was the only one who'd suggested that Bandages might be scum, I was trying to mend his ways, and kilakan had called him 'suspicious'.  This looks to me like a push for a vote on Bandages.
Zako, why is it that, to paraphrase your own words, you did what I said scum would do?

You certainly managed to hide it well, jumping on me and all in the same post.

Zako.  You are scum.

Circular Reasoning is what WIFOM is. Don't debate it, your just giving scum an excuse to use it more often.

I do have a life outside the computer Lonewolf, I cannot be there all the time to comment on everything exactly on time. I was commenting on this:

Gind mames

What? Is there a meaning to this?

Gind mames = Mind Games

Lonewolf I, WIFOM is anti-town, stop trying to confuse us, that's what scum want, and since you are attempting it, you look scummy. Why are you doing this if your town?

As far as WIFOM goes, now I understand that term, though I don't believe the assessment is valid.  WIFOM means forcing your opponent into such circular reasoning, using the pressure of the situation to obtain a single, irrevocable decision that is usually either a blind guess or a Third Option born of hasty, hopefully fallacious reasoning.

Certainly my analysis of the situation is the product of some circular reasoning, but there is no decision being made.  Any confusion my statement creates is the result of a perceived False Dilemma.  Scum could easily adopt a different strategy, and negate my reasoning completely.  Indeed, they probably have.

The purpose behind my particular wording was threefold:
  • Point out one possible scenario in which Bandages is not scum, and one in which he is.  I was using both scenarios as support for my caution that we not rush into lynching him blindly.
  • Remind everyone that there is an elite IC over in scumchat.  Whatever plan scum settle on will have likely passed his scrutiny.
  • Take potshots at the scum planning process, attempting to sow disorder and confusion, however brief, into scumchat.

And instead of jumping on the bandages bandwagon, I instead go after the WIFOM scumtell you gave out here:

Unvote

Unless he is scum of course.

Naturally.

I gotta agree Bandages is suspicious.... anyways
Who do you believe would be the most dangerous to be against character?

And the first second vote rears its ugly head.  I'm not quite ready to crucify Bandages for that. Not with Org as scum IC.  Under his guidance I would be surprised to see any major scumslips out of the newb scum, and more expectant of them out of newb town.  Unless that's what they want us to think.

Zako, Penngo, neither of you have spoken since Bandagegate.  You're not trying to lay low while we burn him at the stake, are you?

Your arguments are null and void.

If we vote you out now bandages, we wouldn't loose much more than someone doing anti-town stuff that's not helping us catch scum. If your not scum, it's not much of a loss anyhow since your acting like a scumbucket would, doing nothing to help town.

Your arguments are null and void.

Hardly.

I do have a life outside the computer Lonewolf, I cannot be there all the time to comment on everything exactly on time.
You specifically stated that I voted bandages in order to defend myself.  At the time that I voted bandages, there were no accusations to defend myself from.  Commenting on something a bit late is acceptable.  Fabricating arguments for my being scum without even bothering to make sure your arguments are internally consistent, at least chronologically, is downright sloppy.

And instead of jumping on the bandages bandwagon, I instead go after the WIFOM scumtell you gave out here:

Spoiler: Long quote of mine. (click to show/hide)
Didn't I already point this out in my own argument?  Oh, yeah. I did.
You certainly managed to hide it well, jumping on me and all in the same post.

You still haven't answered either of my questions.  Here they are again, in case you missed them:
Why claim that I was defending myself when I voted Bandages, when there were no relevant accusations to defend myself from at the time?
Why is it that you did what I said scum would do?

Oh, so having to make time for university exams is a scumtell is it now? I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for the inspiration.

How the hell does this prove anything?

Ok, I think I may have misread what you said. I thought you were defending him and that you meant that I was nipping your defense of bandages in the bud, not your scumhunting. My apologies, this is what happens when you don't get enough sleep people! Learn from my stupidity.  :-[

Since when did I push for a vote on bandages? I was stating what was obvious in the form of sarcasm. It appears that sarcasm is seen as a scumtell, I will refrain from it in the future.

Not to mention the fact that I'm a townie, so Lonewolf has no reason to save me unless he were also a townie or some variant.

Now I know that anyone who defended me is not a scum, otherwise they would have frothed at the mouth to lynch me. Just like Zako.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
That's just what a scum would want us to think.
Only a scum would get that angry..

Stop, just stop. That physically hurts. You are just confusing people.

Yeah, you guys should just lynch me.

Sad part about being a townie. You are expendable. Unless you have a role, the only thing we really lose is your skill in finding scum. We have nothing to lose in lynching you.
