Well, I was actually rather proud of myself for making the effort to make mash potato in the first place.
That was kind of the point of the exercise. To not be lazy for a change. :P

Ah, understood!
Obviously, for me, mashed potato is a convenience food.  Like oatmeal or grits.  I've never actually mashed potatoes.
When I'm making *real* food, I add finely chopped bits of potato in with other vegetables.

Or just cook a piece of meat or fish, then cook some rice in the leftovers.

I am not a good cook.  I just hydrate a variety of things then swallow them.

I had a super long tiring day at work and it feels like no one wants me around.

And I don't even know if I really get to relax tomorrow or not.

Pasta is nice, but it can only dream of opposing the greatness that is the 'tater.
As for rice? Pfft, don't make me laugh. The simplest nice-tasting meal you can make with rice is a rice+BBQ sauce sandwich, and I'm told that is "weird".

Rice holds spices really well.  I mainly use rice so I can add those strong flavors for my weak tongue.
Noodles are good too, but they're basically like chopped potatoes when it comes to flavor.  Harder to spear on a fork, too.

Rice+noodles in the same dish is the weirdest thing.  It tastes so wrong for some reason.

Rice done wrong is pretty much the general state of being of rices in Western countries. :U

Not to mention, Western food do NOT go well with rice imo. I can't understand people who eat rice with pies or whatever.
