I'm too privileged to ask for giveaways without feeling really bad.

She threatens to sue me after I kick it in the face and it runs off whimpering. I hand her my card and say "try it.

She tried to call the cops on me....

Dog had no valid dog license tag, never had its shots, and had a run in with the dog warden before when it got loose ("dog at large")..... It did not help when the dog snapped at the police officer. Yeah, enjoy the ticket, lady.... Telling the police off didn't do either you or the dog any favors here....

I don't get why people insist on making big deals out of things. I was content to leave it where it was, [sigh]. I need to take a break from trying to do things today.

Oddly enough around here during the "Pit bull" scares they passed a law that legally recognized a dog as a weapon. They had to alter the law because as people have said it makes it legal to "Shoot the dog and then the owner".

I like dogs but am afraid of large dogs mostly because I've been attacked by them twice. Once as a very young child and once as a teen.

One of those dogs was put down for being too violent. The other the owners blamed me for being attacked and for being growled at by the dog constantly.

There are some weird things like that. Such as body armour being counted as a deadly weapon in some countries' law. Or the fists of boxers counting as deadly weapons too. Strange huh?

I remember that. I may legally be a deadly weapon in some jurisdictions in a few months. I wonder if I'll have to get a permit to carry myself around in public?

Not too much of a dog person either. Got bitten when I was a kid as well.
And a lot of the people here are way to lenient with their dogs as well.

However seing a dog being run over, 25 metres from where I was walking today, still made me feel terrible.

In Malaysia it's pretty common to see dogs get roadkilled. There's even guys whose job it is to clean them up, so frequent is it.

There was also a rat poking its head out of a hole in the ground. Strangely adorable, spreading plague flees around with a smile.

I completely forgot to mention that the rat was in central London, not Malaysia. Rats everywhere. In the floor, in the walls - never where you can see them usually though.

Well I went through the whole ordeal and imagined it happening to me.
So you're there, your still living dog a being a bag of broken bones producing bone-chilling noises on the middle of the street blocking all traffic.

What the hell do you do? Who do you call? Who can help you with this mess?

A dog shouldn't block all traffic, you could drive around it.

You could either call a vet, I guess. Or go over and snap it's neck. Put it out of it's misery.

Well, two lane street, probably could block traffic in a way that could stop you from legally driving around it, if it's in the middle.

To be honest, around here if someone doesn't show up with a shovel or whatever (something to scoop it all up and move it, basically) fast enough, people just run the corpse over some more until the birds come by and eat it or whatever. Fairly standard roadkill practice regardless of what species it is, if it's sufficiently in the road and small enough to fit under a tire. Sometimes if it innit, too -- I've seen dead deer on the side of the road with tire tracks going through the middle of 'em :-\
