Just found out that my onboard graphics card is so old that even the 'legacy' drivers list on manufacturer's page doesn't list it :/

And I just wanted to update my drivers...

I am to be appointed to represent a man who is accused of stealing food to feed his family. He is not the only one, by far. This is not an isolated occurrence.

On one hand, I understand the reasoning behind the state's theft complaint. A.) Otherwise people would take what food they wanted; B.) people would fake being poor just to get groceries for free; C.) it wouldn't be workable.

That said, our system will gladly spend thousands of dollars, of which I am barely a pittance,  prosecuting this man for stealing food, but it will not feed him....

Wherefore art thou, o county religious conservatives? Demanding funding cuts for him and so far this year a few dozen others that I've seen, it would seem.

Now that I have shorter hair, people are being much, much nicer.
If it is the same kind of 'nice' that I am thinking of, you have my deepest pity.
I hate people being 'nice', in that false smiles, cheery tone, 'Max can have the first go!' kind of way. The kind of nice that stems from fear of causing the slightest hint of offence, and sacrifices anything close to honestly. Drives me insane.

Anyway, I know I am just text on the internet with a Lizard as a unique identifier, but I've seen the photo thread and I still like the short hair. As much as anybody is allowed on the internet without it being in that creepy stalker way.  :P
Hear hear.

This one hits me pretty often too, True. Some days it feels like folks are too busy pissing on their messiah's teachings to actually go out and do what the hell the guy told them to do :-\

Gods know I see exceptions, but... s'just too much of a minority. On my best days, I still kinda' hold out hope someone'll figure out the magic phrase that'd invert that situation.

Don't mind me.  I'm pretty sure that the next couple of years will be the worst that I ever suffer, and then it'll probably be fine.

I need to get back to taking my fish oil, though.  I'm guessing that the source of my current paranoia and depression is chemical.

Last week my boss came to ask me a favour. He wanted me to do overtime because there was a lot of work, people were off sick/on holiday, and nobody else could come in. He said he would be working also, but it turns out he was just looking to replace his hours with mine. I'm saddened that he, once again, left everyone in the lurch; We really needed the extra help.

No one wants to not mind you.

People tend to care about people who opens up to them, and you have really opened up to us all here, which makes us naturally want to do whatever we can from the other side of the world.

Also, I'm a bit sad that my clothes have been wet for something like 8 hours down at the laundry place, hoping I can get something somewhat dry before it all ruins.

I wish I were able to not mind me.

I did get a thank-you note from the guy I drunk-sat's girlfriend this morning, though, and the guy I gave moral advice to now wants to treat me to a picnic.  So those are two good things.

Back to reading the doorstopper :I

8 hours left in the Ludum Dare Gamemaking Jam. Not sure if we'll get where we want to be in time. On the plus side, I had a good idea for a song for the project while making breakfast. At 4 in the afternoon. Because time has begun to blur together with itself. Time for the final 6-hour push. One way or another, we will turn something in.

-snip-
Ugh... I'm just sorry. First, drunk-sitting is never very fun, but a complete lack of gratitude is just salt in the wound. Dealing with general immaturity from folks can be taxing, but you know you're a good person for your doing what you did for them. Anyway, I know it'll get better for you, and on a much sooner scale than over the next couple years. Just take care, and keep taking little steps toward where you want to be.

Also, I'm a bit sad that my clothes have been wet for something like 8 hours down at the laundry place, hoping I can get something somewhat dry before it all ruins.
If worse comes to worse,  just hang them on doors, beams, poles, towel racks... heck, if it's warm, sunny, or breezy enough outside, just hang them on tree branches. My grandma goes without a drier for most of the year (except during Winter), and air drying like that has worked pretty well for her. Try it out?

It's night here now, but I managed to get my bed stuffs into a drier for 30 minutes before the laundry place closed, I tried to hang all the wet stuff up down there where I got get it.

Plan is now to go down there as soon as it opens, dry what is wet, wash what I have left and then celebrate that everything that ever was clothes of mine is now clean :I

But very much thanks.

Injured my hip yesterday. Painful and swollen. Coming down with some sort of illness involving a headache and sore throat on top of it. Having trouble sleeping due to the pain and discomfort.

Stupid body.

Yeah. . . he showed some gratitude, and as I said I did get a thank-you note from his girl this morning (good on her--that was definitely the responsible thing to do from her part), but it was honest-to-god almost identical to the 10-year-old herding I do every week, except that he was way more interested in doing dangerous shit, I had to keep him outside most of the time so he didn't get written up in the dorm (he's . . . 20, and drank three bottles of wine at one of the dorm's official functions, I don't know HOW) AND dodge the police.  Managing other people's bathroom trips, water, and food intake is just. . . I dunno.  Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

If you're wondering what happened, exactly, he got kicked out of his room by his roommate and was running around getting people to tell him to do stuff, at which point he wound up knocking on my door at 10:00 PM (around when other people were going to be settling in for the night), so I realized that I was pretty much the end of the line and made sure he was out of there.

Ugh.

Well, in other news I only have ~850 pages left.  Time to get back to work.

I get good and tipsy after three glasses. I honestly don't know how people drink as much as they do- I feel after you start having a bit of trouble keeping your balance and start cheek-kissing and flirting with every member of your preferred gender in sight...who can drink more, really?

Maybe that's cause I like my wine and beer, and like them done slowly, rather than chugging liquor.
