In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Yes.
Huzzah, six weeks of Japañese* have allowed me to define a word and a particle mixed with English!

Portland was voted for having the country's nicest drivers. Greenest city in the country too. Living in the metro area of Portland is sweet.
Portland? Portland Oregon!? What dimension do you come from, and does everyone drive like a lunatic there? I have seen crazy things happen in Portland. People heading in the wrong direction at ninety miles per hour when they think nobody is around. Switching lanes with a couple inches of clearance. U-turns in the middle of the freeway, and worst of all, waiting until they are level with an exit before entering the exit lane, even when there is a divider.

*I pronounce the J like the J in Jalapeño, because of the hilarity caused by speaking Japañese in an outrageous Spanish accent.

Wow, I feel like shit. Sorry if I snap at any of you, everything seems to be annoying me right now.

Actually, I might just bugger off and do something else.

I claim the Law of Universal Stupidity. Also, I've never actually seen any of those. Except for the exit lane one, but that leads right back to Universal Stupidity.
