You're getting negative responses to you bashing it because it's like opening a video game, going "This intro scene is so boring!" and instead of just skipping it, you quit out and call the game shit.

It's more like picking up a short story, reading the first chapter, and saying "this chapter bores me and shows nothing indicating it picks up. It's a reasonable extrapolation that the rest of the story will be like that." Which is, in fact, how most people decide whether they will read the rest of a story or a book if they don't have the time or inclination to try to keep going.

There's a reason the hook is one of the most important elements of opening a story. You could open a thriller novel with the protagonist having a completely generic, uninteresting day before the actual plot starts on day two... but nobody does that. Don't bash Sirus for disliking the story's hook, it's a perfectly valid opinion.

On the topic of books, just finished writing the first chapter in my book! (Prologue already done, as is part of Chapter two.) Feels like progress.

Of course, it needs ten colours of editing, but having it on paper is a good place to start

Yeah. I can write for two or three hours at a time before it starts troubling me too much. I am so used to it now that it only really hurts too much when weather is rolling in.

Also it ironically makes it easier to shoot my gun. It's got a short grip and I have big hands, so if my pinky didn't cock off the not quite right way, it'd hang off and throw my aim off. I am a better shot than my wife and the gun is sized for her hands. Hashtag handicapable :p

I find it nice to imagine stuff from how the title always comes by.

Half frustration, but youtube finally appearing to pretty much hard cut off flash [...] has ended up getting me to finally getting around to taking the roughly five seconds* it took to figure out how to play their shtick in an external player.

Which is the happy part. This... this is nice. Probably should have done it a long time ago. _{Now all I have to do is figure out how to consistently force its quality choice and I'll be in pretty good shape.}
