Duan was glad the city could muster troops so fast. People from the surrounding countryside, emboldend by the barbarians defeat were arriving daily. Imperial merchant ships had been authorized to make trading runs for vital supplies-but only then, as the waters of the river teemed with barbarian sloops still...he was glad when the envoy offered him a special package-an axe, specifically. One of the best, the Axe of Wolves.

A fine weapon, smaller than what he was used too, but quicker and stronger. It was the one of the 7 weapons of the 7 legendary hunters of Mardukane, killers of Dragons, Trolls, Demons and more, who were fabled to have become so great at their skill the Gods rewarded them by turning them into celestial Wolves to hunt among the stars, leaving their armor and weapons in a pile as they disappeared into the dawning light. He could see the Hunters constellation in the sky to the North, and he raised his axe blade to it in respect.

He was itching to take the enemy city...but his wounds were still paining him. Damn it all, he would ride on all the same...more of his healers quit in frustration, not wanting to be blamed for his death. He couldn't blame them. How much did that make? 6? 8?

Actions
Link up my cavalry forces in Kojo, then start moving back North to attack the barbarian city.

Fierban marched in the shadow of the trees, guiding his troops west. As he marched he went over siege techniques in his mind. Soon they left the forest and marched over plains again, and by the end of the week the barbarian city was in sight.
Fierban regarded it with disgust. A stinking pit of squabbling animals. Typical barbarian 'settlement', really just a temporary camp made permanent in the ruins of a celestial city. They ended their march in sight of the walls, and the men prepared to siege.

Fierban and his 'army' moves to (39,2) and prepares to assault the 'city'.

Tsoi frowned. Not a sign of barbarians here either. Good news, obviously. He directed the cavalry out of the woods, onto the path back to the city. He would tell the merchants to start travelling to, hmmn, what was it called- Haidong? Haidong sounded right. Jierui's city, anyway.

Tsoi moves one tile east and one tile south. He gives permission for civilians to start the journey to haidong. Just a few, not carrying very valuable cargo. Just to test the roads. I can barely believe they are really safe!

Zei-Ran gazes at the city. His scouts report that their supplies are dwindling, and morale among the troops upon the walls seems low. This city will fall, and soon.

Maintain the siege.

Apura Khon delegates the care of her new special guest to her lieutenant, maintaining a good distance between herself and him, though he is to be treated well and recieve training. She prepares for Xian's arrival and makes sure her captive barbarian general is in top condition for their coming duel.

Turn 18, Summer

The summer harvest comes much earlier than expected and is bountiful everywhere. Farmers rejoice, and after a night or two of celebrations, they are ready to go back to their usual work. The movement penalty is over for now.

Munisai Moves in closer to the city he wants to siege. Only AFTER they have left the forest, he once more sends out the remaining scouts, to learn about the defences of the enemy.

As the morale of his men has dropped, he decides not to simply rush in to attack, but instead lay siege upon the enemy. He would like to allow his men to loot and plunder to their hearts content to raise their morale, but he remembers well what happened to the barbarians who tried to do that on him.
The very first unit that arrived on Mardukane's door was entirely devastated, because they were not prepared.
The second unit that attacked him however, only put on an act. They looted and plundered a bit, but in moderation. They always stayed ready to assume battle formation, and always kept an eye on the walls of the enemy to detect an attack, which in the end, they did.
And it served them well. If their enemy had not been him, Munisai Madara, they would surely have been victorious.

A such cunning plan sure deserves a revival.

In an attempt to lure out the enemy, his men would lay fire to peasant huts and simulate looting, while taking some prisoners here and there if time and place are right.
Should the enemy take the bait and leave the security of his walls, then he will be attacked mercilessly.
Should the enemy not take the bait, then his men would still have the prisoners. Surely one or the other peasant wench that they would be allowed to rape. And surely the one or the other peasant hosue that was not caught by the fire and still holds some loot that his men could share.

It was ugly, it was dishonorable, but with the low morale, the men could sure use the one or the other rape to feel powerful again.

-----------------------

orders:

Upon leaving the forest, scouts are send out to learn about the enemy.

Munisai moves in and lays siege upon the enemy. In an attempt to ambush the enemy, his men will fake unprepardness by looting.

Koga and Kestrel follow Munisai, even if much slower. They will be essential reinforcements.

Shou Ryou gets his well deserved rest in Angran. He is an old man afterall, let's cut him some slack.

The regular unit stays with him.

The veteran unit returns to Mardukane.

The cavalry south of Mahoyiga moves another tile south and one tile east.

On the first day, A proud pine stood on the edge of the forest, like a guardian of the smaller trees behind it. It grew straight and thick, with occasional strong side branches. It radiated an aura of power.
With a final tug it crashed down between the soldiers, who swiftly started sawing off the top and many of the branches, and clipping off the needles. They cut the front into a point, onto which they slotted a simple metal head. Cloth wrapped around the remaining horizontal branches and voila, one battering ram, ready for use. Not very well made, and, without a carriage, exhausting to carry, but it would serve it's purpose of breaking down the barbarian gates.
Meanwhile other teams of men made ladders, plank bridges, and standing wicker shields. Fierban saw it and it was good.
On the second day, the archers picked up their shields and ran about the country side. The infantry ran about carrying the ram, the ladders, and the plank bridges, ramming down or climbing up trees, and crossing streams.
On the third day, they did the same.
On the fourth day, they rested. Practically. Most of the day was actually spent in combat drills, meditation, and pep talks. But in comparison to running around carrying crudely made siege weapons. Seeing as they could see the enemy sailing in and out of the city, there was no reason to try stopping supplies going in.
On the fifth day, they picked up the ram, the ladders, the bridges, and shields, and marched to the city. The barbarian warriors watched from the walls as they approached, the Black Circle fluttering in the light breeze. In silence they drew closer to the city. A single gong rang out, and they stopped. The archers put down their shields and strung their bows.
On a small rise in the middle of the army, Fierban stood, watching the city. He smiled briefly, drew his sword, and held it up. Then he marched forwards until he reached the front of the formation. He could see a barbarian warrior with his helmet on backwards standing on the walls. He spat, raised his sword to the sky again, and inclined it forwards. The carriers gave the equipment to the chargers. The archers drew their bows.
The assault began.
In silence.
Because that is scary.

Fierban makes siege weapons and assaults the city.

Tsoi rides back to Shaocoun.

The City of Yinmei had fallen, and Zei-Ran and Yun Wong hosted a celebration with the heads of loyal families in the city. It will take a while to rebuild this once prosperous city, but the first steps had been taken.

Under Yun Wong's watchful eye and the tutelage of his veteran forces a group of archers is trained to garrison the city. He also uses his experiences assaulting the city to improve the port's defenses. Zei-Ran handles the assignment of various leaders for the city, and drills his cavalry in advanced combat techniques.

Once that is complete, Zei-Ran and Yun Wong take the fleet back down to Minjing and begin training units to aid both the defense of the island and an attack force to begin recapturing the seas.

------
Orders
Archers are trained in Yinmei as garrison.
The port defenses of Yinmei are strengthened
Zei-Ran and Yun Wong return to Minjing
Infantry is trained to join them on the fleet

Ugh. So many voices. "Caution general!" "You need bedrest!" "We need more time to plan!" They never stopped!

Every day he wasted, the enemy grew stronger. And that city was the festering center of most of the barbarians in the area. Daily, patrols put forth from Kojo to pacify the land, and gather manpower and taxes. Barbarians still streamed in, often under the cover of night to wreak havoc on what little infrastructure they had managed to build.

He hated delay, but his commanders were likely to mutiny against him if he kept this up...he ordered a weeks rest for himself while the cavalry prepared for a long siege by stocking up on extra supplies, constructing large ox driven battering rams and making cavalry shields to protect from arrows.

He would spend most of the week grumbling during his bed rest, letting his shattered body mend.

Actions
Spend the week resting and preparing siege equipment.

Lola Danyal read the message with ill-concealed glee. It almost made he forget about he uncle's death. Almost. She had shown him around the famous Hanging Gardens of Fushang. When they had finally finished he said:
"I have now done what I had wanted to do during my whole life. These gardens are truly magnificent. I wish to be buried here when I pass away. And from now on, my whole fortune is to be spent on rebuilding this magnificent structure."
It was true, and the decision was made with perfect timing. By the end of the week Li Ru had died, leaving his wealth to the Builder of the Garden and his niece, Lola Danyal. Many people respected this title, giving her status among the hierarchy of the nobility. She left the money in the able hands of her family's accountants, to be spent on returning the gardens to their former glory.
She then ordered her personal guard, the Cavalry that had escorted her and her uncle, to be retrained and it's members replenished. She also requested a regiment of Infantry trained, to give her a greater tactical advantage against any barbarians that dared attack her.
She then marched North-West to take the round about route to her next destination.

Orders:
Retrain Cavalry
Train Infantry
Move North-West with army
Claim the title of Builder of the Garden, giving +1 to nobility.

((OOC I won't be online from tomorrow until sunday, just so you know.))

Apura does the deed. Her opponent loses his head, which leads to his defeat. She remains here at rest and orders the cavalry reassembled in Zakhonia at first opportunity, to join her at the front. Raven Hawk's lieutenant is abandoned with meagre supplies, heavy bruising, and the majority of his master's corpse, to whatever fate may be in store for him.

The flames of the village behind the palisade roared as the barbarians retreated deeper into the town. They werent necessarily burning everything, but such occasions where fighting is taken inside the walls, fires tend to spread. Ogedei took a deep breath.
'I love the smell of burning houses in the morning...'
All around him, men were running to the attack, and in distance, the sounds of fighting and a clashing of metal could be heard. Ogedei spurred his stallion to a gallop and whirred out his scimitar. This was a fine day.

The attempt to take the outpost continues. This time we'll rid the place of them once and for all! Xia uses his magic in SOME way to help, i just am too lazy to elaborate.
