As Yun Wong blockades the port, Zei-Ran's army digs in with the appearance of preparing for a long siege.

However, orders are sent to Yun Wong to prepare to storm the city using the port. Under cover of night Yun Wong and his archers are to sweep in, causing chaos with fire arrows and make their way to the gates, opening them for Zei-Ran's cavalry. Zei-ran's army, meanwhile, will put up the appearance of a quiet camp. We will light many camp fires and soldiers will make rounds appearing to be carousing. In the darkness, however, most of the soldiers and the horses will be readied. Once Yun Wong's men open the gates, we will thunder into the town and take it over.

------

Yun Wong attacks the city at night by surprise, his main focus being to capture the gates and open them for the calvary. Then the combined forces will take over the city from the inside

'I spy, with my little eye... something... brown.'
Igor looked around dully and finally said
'Dutht?'
Ogedei sighed. Hopefully there would be a battle soon to wake his nerves.

In an unexpected leap on initiative, Jierui and his army continue moving towards the meeting place. They don't fight the army of Apura Khon.

Lola knew they must not complete their fortifications. They must attack, now. The men would charge in one long line, so that they would all strike the enemy at once. She also decides to reward every man who kills three barbarians with [amount of money].

Such a waste, Duan thought. The land showed the usual marks of barbarism-their rough blocked stone huts, vast fields of mud caused by soil erosion and deforesting and an intolerable stench from lack of sanitation. It would take generations to repair this damage...but first he had to remove this pestilence. It got worse as his army closed upon the city-corpses lied unburied, thousand year old despoiled statues of the former emperors lied in ruined splendor and ruddy men with shifty eyes stared in awe from every shack and hovel.

He could see the city up ahead-a rough battlement of wooden spikes and a pit of stagnant water...to an untrained eye, a barely defensible mess, but the there was a certain skill used in it's ramshackle construction, no doubt the product of years of inter clan warfare. He had no doubt the warriors within were of high caliber, as the clan chief who lay inside could afford nothing else for his personal protection.

This is place where he would make the barbarians suffer for their insolence.

"Very well. The barbarian is not there. He has fled further. Ready the men to move."

Fierban moves two tiles north.

"Not even a sign of a single bandit. The gods smile upon us, men. We continue north, as that we may ensure the whole road is clear of barbarians."

Tsoi (who should be one tile more westwards than indicated) moves one tile north, treating the forest in the same way again. I want some damn combat experience! Or failing that, safe travel between Shaocoun and Dwarf's city!

((yes, cavalry cavalry cavalry. As I am not heading out to fight a specific enemy with known troops, the speed is simply something that makes them much more useful for the whole traveling I have to do. Since they are all green anyway, retraining them once the enemy is known shouldn't be too much of a problem))

With childish glee, Munisai closed the report that Koga had send him. His ranks of followers would soon increase even more.
So she thought his underlings too lowly to negotiate with her, and wanted a meeting with him in person. Fine, if this is what she wants, she shall get it.

"My friend Shou, I am afraid duty calls. Please ride ahead, taking the road to Angran. You asked me for more time to evaluate the worthyness of Shan Wist, and you shall get that. I shall catch up to you in Angran soon. The road lies deeply cut off from barbarian territory, the only way to there is through the very forest my men are currently patroling.
Still, as your safety is a large concern for me,...and also what you are paying me taxes for, please take with you my unit of most experiences cavalry.
I promise you, they will guard you with their life."

------------------------

orders:

Another batch of forester cavalry is trained in Mardukane

Munisai, together with the forester cavalry travels southwards, following the trail that his son and Kestrel have left with their men. He is heading towards the tile where they are camping.

On his way, on well noticable places, he occasionaly leaves a letter, adressing the hermit, and telling her that the general wishes to meet her in person at the same place where she met his son last time.
If she is lucky to stumble across one, and able to read, she should know where she should head.

The forester-cavalry moves eastwards, where they meet up with Munisai, joining forces with him, then continue moving south with them.

Kestrel and Koga hold their camp at the exact position where they met the hermit last time. They send some scouts out, to make detect any barbarian activity in the area, afterall one of their cities is close.

The last remaining cavalry unit, south of Mahoyiga, returns to their city. No point in heading for the forest anymore.

Shou Ryou, together with the veteran cavalry unit and the regular cavalry unit travels the road towards Angran, to meet with Shan Wist.

The hazy blue smoke of incense wafted around the tent. It really was giving Ogedei a headache, but Xia insisted that all these rituals were necessary for summoning the winds he had requested. With a strong wind blowing from their back, it should protect them from the defenders arrows, but help his own archers on their shooting.
As he walked out of the tent, Igor shambled to his side.
'Mathter, the men you ordered to find a cow are ready...'
'Good, all that remains for them then is to sneak to the barbarians water reserves then... Give them the order to get to it'
Meanwhile, Ogedei thought, he'd have to prepare the assault.

Xia prepares her magic to call forth a strong wind to protect Ogedeis men from enemy arrows, while at the sametime helping his own archers.
A dead cow is dumped into the enemy water reserves for some good ol' biological warfare.
Once the dead cow has done its job, the assault shall begin! Take that city! Ogedei shall lead the troops ofcourse.

Cursing, Yun Wong pulls his fleet back. It appears that these barbarians are of stiffer stuff then he had thought. His lieutenant comes up to him.

"My Lord, we have new Orders from Zei-Ran."

"I see. And they are?"

"We are to pull back and blockade the port. It seems this will be a longer siege then we had hoped"

Yun Wong sighs, his hopes for a glorious victory gone. "Very well, rely my apologies to the General for failing in the duty he gave me and send assurances that no enemy supplies will slip past us."

"Yes, my lord!"

--------

Continue the siege, and Yun Wong will blockade the port. Any enemy shipments that try to make it through are to be plundered.

How long do we think the city can last without support?

"Uncle!" Lola said, smiling uncontrollably as she embraced Li Ru, kissing him on each cheek. "Your journey went well?"
"Better than your men's by the looks of things." Replied the aged man, as they walked towards the tent that had been set aside for him.
"Yes, we have encountered several groups of Barbarians recently, I felt the need to dispatch them."
"It is good that you have done so, otherwise our journey would have been made all the more difficult." he said seating himself in one of the few chairs in his tent.
The room was spartan, as furniture was made very cumbersome in the desert, since everything needs to be carried either by horse, man or camel. Efforts had been made to improve the quality of her uncle's living arrangements however, there was a raised bed (made so by the ingenuity of one of the camp carpenters), an ornate writing desk and chair (taken from Lola's own quarters) and various other comforts.
"We should arrive in Fushang in two weeks, uncle." Lola informed him.
"Good, good. Wake me know when dinner is served, Lola, my old bones are not like what they used to be."
"Yes, uncle."

Orders:
Pick up Li Ru
Move South x2

An unquenchable rage had built up in Madara upon hearing the hermits answers.
Such an arrogant idiot!
"Become a hermit and wait for the right time"

YEAH RIGHT!

Sit around idly in the woods, killing a barbarian with traps ecvery now and then and then dying of old age because she will never be strong enough and the moment never right enough.

A coward hiding in the shadows of the woods, thinking that by doing so she actually did something good for the nation, while hard-working generals actualy spent their time preparing their strength, and not simply waiting until the time is right, but adjusting time itself.

That woman was utterly unfit to be a servant to anyone, for her rash thinking and thoughtless actions would surely lead to that mans downfall.

He had to bring his wrath upon someone, or it would eat him up. Thankfully, there was just the right target in range...

----------------

Both Madara and Koga move their armies as far southwards as possible, where they join forces. Many scouts are send to gather every information avaiable on the city west to them.

Shou continues his way towards Angran.

the cavalry unit in Mahoyiga moves south.

------------------------------

btw istrian, maybe you should elaborate on those 4 candidates a bit more, even if it's just in a general sense. They are famous and influential, and I am sure that every general has heared of them at least a bit.
What would they have heared? What kind of reputation do these men have ?
