There you go, then. If helping people made me happy, then I WOULD help society, but it doesn't. I just don't understand people who do things that don't positively affect them at all.

Greed and self serving help no one except the person himself, and not for that long, either. You can't expect others to take it lying down if you don't help them because you don't think it'll make you happy or help you.

Oh, I know the feeling. Just work harder. I know that sounds stupid but if you do your best you'll go far. Sure, others might just cruise along, but you really strived to get where you want to be (or you will/might) and that in and of itself is a good thing.

Well, it's because it's true. People might look down on you from places that they didn't work to get to, but screw them. Don't expect the world on a plate. That's a one in a million possibility that these smug gits managed to win, like lotto. Just get to where you want to be, and worry about you.

Toony, lemme tell you the most important thing to remember about High School, which they will never ever tell you-

It bears absolutely no semblance to the real world.  Neither the 1950's version of socialization the teaching methods are supposed to reinforce, or the prison-colony ad-hoc socialization that actually develops, or the utter indifference towards effort and interest.  College will be different, the job world even more so, and especially the vapidity and asshattery you have to take from other people now will disappear the instant you graduate.  We've all been there, and I promise it gets better.

(Regarding college in particular, it sounds like you don't have a lot of money to pay for it - there are certainly grants and scholarships for people willing to work as hard as you.  Though I never earned any, so you'll have to talk to someone else.  But there are always good options.)
