Thank you, Toony.

On another note, I have to pick One Piece up again some time.

Found this configuration on Gnome-Look yesterday, and spent some time tinkering with it.

How'd you do the bit at the bottom of conky, where it tells you what's compiling?
is it just a function of Gentoo's package manager? i've never tried Gentoo...

Also, pstree is awesome.

That's a pretty busy system you've got there. Using conky for that?

Anyone know how to stop xcompmgr from drawing shadows on the conky window?

What options are you passing it? I'm using "-cfC" an haven't noticed shadows. However, I usually have a dark wallpaper...
Quick man lookup: -C     When -c is specified, attempts to avoid painting shadows on panels and docks.

Sort of, the package manager spits tons of crap out into various logs, then you've got applications that read the logs, and return things like ETAs, whatever is compiling, etc. It's pretty awesome.

Yep, I thought of having it post the output of `fortune | cowsay -f tux` too, could be pretty cool.

Running the same thing, but I still get shadows, odd.

heh :) might take some tinkering, some of the fortunes are loooooooong....

oh, just had an idea: tux, but the speech bubble doesn't pop up until you mouse-over/click
don't think conky'd work, but dzen might...

check conky's config, especially the own_window options
Code: (mine) [Select]
own_window yes
own_window_class Conky
own_window_hints skip_pager
own_window_type desktop        #I think this's the important one
own_window_transparent true

Firefox 3 and Firefox 4 beta?
I have both on my work PC (mainly because Firebug is severely broken/buggy/annoying in FF4)

I like to actually look at my wallpapers (this one is temporarily replacing the one I normally use, but it still looks nice). So I decided that I don't like desktop icons, and got rid of them. The Windows taskbar is also dumb, so I put it into hiding. Rainmeter is cool though, and so is the dock thing from OS X (almost the only thing that I actually like about OS X).
The dock and Rainmeter are both kept floating over all windows, but I use something called MaxMax to adjust the maximized window size, so windows maximize as if the Windows taskbar was still there, the windows fill up the space above Rainmeter. The dock still slightly floats above the windows, but it looks nice.

Mine hasn't changed much since my new one - got some stuff to clean off the desktop since I was making an all-in-one Minecraft installer for my little brother. Bought MC on the 19th for him, it was his Christmas gift from me.

And Crown, exactly!

Someone in my family got a massive new monitor. I got their old one.

Now my desktop is roughly twice as wide. Also using a docked floating folder toolbar as a small start menu on the new monitor.
