 Hrm. It seems that while your dreamself is what you imagine of yourself, dying does eventually start to cross over to your body whether you want it to or not. So Johns stab eventually leaked onto his dreamself, but it was alright because his body was on his quest bed. Perhaps that is part of it, the injury being so severe it is forced onto your dreamself whether you want it or not. Thus Terezi would not get it for her dreamblindness, but Vriska bleeding out her dreambody would get it.

 And Vriska is an evil bitch. Of course she would love to stay with the object she can cause mass torment to.

It's more than just being able to cause torment, though. I think she wants to take something weak and frail and turn it into something strong and self-sufficient.

Tavros completely failed to do so, so she moved on.
