I'm saying that, canonically (if I remember correctly), that everyone has a predetermined length of life that only Death Gods and people who've made a special deal can see. Writing your name in the Death Note to die when your 90 doesn't magically lengthen the time you're bound to live.

An interesting way to protect yourself from the deathnote is to spell your own name incorrectly three times in the Deathnote.

It makes you immune to its effect.

Killing oneself with the Death Note would hardly be useful unless you were intentionally using it to avoid a painful death, like the good doctor said.

Also, Neonivek, I think that only makes the Death Note angry and it kills you outright for trying to abuse it. It IS an artifact made by god himself afterall...
