Nothing could top this ever.  Tholtig is the Planepacked of historical figures.

You really should get her her own thread already.

Seconded.

I found an elf civ that was destroyed by vampires (using dig deeper)... The cool thing was, the very last rulers first son killed a vampire at the age of ZERO and another at the age of 6. He married at 12 and died at 15. Unfortunately, his kids didn't do anything (except die horribly). Something odd though... After his father died, no one new became the leader, and there were still something like 10-15 elves left.

I know it's not exactly amazing, but I always liked this war I found a long while ago.

I like to believe that it was a demon and a lackey goblin with a pet elf that just attacked some random elves for the hell of it.

At first glance it looks like the "pet elf" did most of the fighting. You need to find out how powerful each member of the group was.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

Unfortunately, I'm sure I long since modded and genned new worlds. I've had that screen for longer than I can remember.

Highlights from the history of the town of Spongerabbit (yes, that's its actual name):

57:  Humans found the town
68:  The First Destruction of Spongerabbit by the elves.  152 elves died compared to 18 humans (including those civilians killed in the destruction).
79:  Humans rebuild Spongerabbit
83:  Second Destruction of Spongerabbit by the elves.  Losses: 17 elves, 16 humans.
98:  Humans rebuild Spongerabbit
101:  Third Destruction of Spongerabbit by the elves.  Losses:  16 elves, 19 humans.
111:  Humans rebuild Spongerabbit
113:  Fourth Destruction of Spongerabbit by the elves.  Losses:  35 elves, 35 humans.
126:  Humans rebuild Spongerabbit
135:  Fifth etc.  Losses:  0 elves, 20 humans.
163:  Humans... you know.
166:  Sixth etc.  Losses:  33 elves, 18 humans.
171:  Rebuild
176:  Seventh.  4 elves, 14 humans.
178:  Rebuild
180:  Eighth.  16 elves, 30 humans.
193:  Rebuild
196:  Ninth.  9 elves, 21 humans.

Overall death toll:  282 elves, 191 humans.

The only wars between the two groups were whenever the humans settled the town again, and the wars always ended when the town was destroyed.  For whatever reason, the elves really did not want the humans living there.  And the humans are pig-headedly insistent about it.  It's a very nice look at the two races' mindsets.  Also, it's interesting to see hundreds upon hundreds of elves attacking humans forces in the single digits, or even no armies at all.

I'm talking about the bronze colossus. It's supposed to be made entirely of bronze.
But really he's just a softie inside. They all are really. When megabeasts come to your fort you never welcome them inside and give them a hug, do you. You heartless bastards...

Saintplunges the Kobold. I wonder how many saints he's plunged.

Also, this has to be the saddest Bronze Colossus in existence. didn't even pick up a title. Yikes.

EDIT:

Didn't raze anything either. Sad.

This was generated with the Relentless Assault mod, in which elves are more hostile, and ogres, giants, werewolves, lizardmen etc. are made into hostile civs.

Recently, the elvish horde, led by Ametha Beasttouches, had suddenly arisen to lay waste to most of the human kingdom of the Escorted Confederacies, and most of its captains, including supreme commander Bini Savageblades, had died in the catastrophic battle of Seamfathers. With its armies destroyed, many of the kingdom's villages were left with only a few children, easy prey for opportunists like the werewolves.

Now, these humans had in the past warred with the werewolves. Size 9 they were, bigger than orcs even, and more than twice as fast as any other living creature, with terrible claws and teeth to match. The most commonly given advice for dealing with these monstrosities in Fortress Mode is to forget about engaging them in melee, but to instead use a bridge to kill them from afar - that is the fear they inspired. And yet over the past 40 years the size 7 humans had made the wolves pay dearly for each invasion.

Now, 59 of these beasts surrounded the human village of Spiraledsky, ready to finally take their revenge on its six remaining helpless infants. Nine times before they had already raided the village, carrying off loot, food, and wine. Only one boy, just barely become a man at the tender age of 12, stood between the wolves and massacre. He was Laulug Lutetest.

Laulug's grandparents had been soldiers from the capital, sent to found and defend the village. Laulug's grandmother and grandfather both had earned titles for their bravery, but both had been killed by werewolves, along with Laulug's parents while Laulug was still a child. He had been an orphan, without any surviving family, since the age of two. All he had to rely upon was his grandfather's old sword.

The werewolves, led by their warlord Giog Metmalign the Price of Nails, charged the gate, and Laulug met them head on. 24 times his sword struck down a wolf, and even Giog himself was forced to flee the boy's anger. For this bravery, Laulug was given the title of "The Execution of Sheens."

A season later than same year, 355 elves attacked the village, and Laulug was killed in the gateway by an arrow. He and the other five children became the horde's dinner.

The difference between peon and god is often a few good saving throws.
