Use of the :P indicator gets repetitive, and sometimes humor works better played straight, so I like to cycle it.

I don't play much minecraft at all, with mods or without, but I might start again now that I found a mod that makes proper trains.

What mod is that? And how proper are these trains? Can you walk around inside them while they're running?

I love railcraft, but the train is soooo tiny. It's like a Garden Train.

Trains? Steam trains?
Maybe you would be intetested in Professor Flaxbeard's Wondrous Steam Power Mod as well?
As far as I know, it has some compatibility with Railcraft. (use the config)

I'd assumed he meant Traincraft, which has much better (although still fairly tiny by actual standards) sizes.

Hmm... I've been mining for several hours. I have found an abandoned mine, and been investigating sytematically, yet I have not found almost anything useful inside. A tiny bit of iron and coal. ZERO gold, ZERO redstone, ZERO diamonds.

What the hell is going on here? Is it something to do with biomes o'plenty? Or something else in the life in the woods modpack? I haven't found much of any normal stone, either. It's all pink and green and blue, mostly. Lots of lignite, but that's it. I've traveled a ways and dug in several locations, but no luck anywhere. What am I missing here?
I've been strip-mining down at layer 11, and I'm finding plenty of ores. Except for Biomes O' Plenty, which adds some random gems, and (I think) Underground Biomes, which adds the marble/granite/lignite/etc, there haven't been any changes to mining. I have seen the vanilla stone spawn, but it's fairly rare.
As a side note, most of the gabbro/marble/etc cobblestones will work as vanilla cobblestone for crafting recipes. They can also be smelted and used as smooth stone. The exceptions are chalk, siltstone, chert, and a couple of others that don't drop as cobblestone. Those can't be used in vanilla recipes.

So Factorization adds droppers underground that contain its manual. Why that makes sense I don't know.

I'm currently bringing death to the Life in the Woods modpack.

This, though. Holy bollocks, that's amazing.

Yup. Life in the Woods. I'm using the hungry version.

I did finally manage to find a few pieces of redstone after another hour of mining. I don't understand what's going on here. Still not a single diamond, and only a few pieces of gold. Even in an abandoned mine, there's almost nothing except those special types of cobblestone. I know they work as cobblestone for crafting, but I never seem to find any ore in them. Maybe I just have a shitty world gen... But I've spent so many hours building in this one, I don't want to have to start over from scratch.

Hopefully the redstone I have will be enough. If not, I may just have to cheat a little bit more in -- I've put in enough hours mining that it hardly feels like cheating. As for diamond, I'm not sure... The only thing I need it for is a pick so I can mine obsidian. I need to go to the nether to get some things. Maybe it's possible to build a nether gate by genning obsidian with buckets of lava and water in a mold... Actually, that sounds doable... I might try that.

That's the other odd thing, though: I'm seeing plenty of lava on the surface of the world, but almost none underground, even at the very bottom of the map. Probably related to the absence of redstone and diamond... So very strange...

Maybe try making a mine a few chunks away?

Or perhaps a biome away?

I've traveled around in several biomes and dug many mines. I've even discovered two separate abandoned mine shafts. It's taken hours and hours. I found, in total, about 5 blocks of redstone and no diamond. : /

On the other hand, I did succeed in making a nether portal by molding lava and pouring water on it, though it took ages. And inside, I quickly found a nether fortress, where I looted several diamonds. That ought to keep me going for a while!
