so i've been building a big spiral staircase with a 5x5 core, i'm still trying to figure out what to do with the core, it has 3 wide bridges to it from the outside parts every 2 levels, rotating around it. (so on any one side it has a bridge to it every 8 levels)  There is a 3 wide path around the entire outside.

Any thoughts on what to do with it?  I left it so I could hollow it out or carve it into something, trying to stick to vaugely realistic looking when it comes to supports.

I'm not really able to visualize that from your description.  You're building or digging?

If you dig a one-square-wide hole straight down the center, then at the bottom dig down two more squares and fill them with water, you have an express elevator from the top to the bottom.

Bonus: put in windows, or rebuild the entire column out of glass.

I don't know if you guys have seen this new interesting glitch, so I present you with Water Ladders.

There also are a few videos by various people that show optimizations/improvements on the design.

After playing this... I now know what Tycho meant by this comic:

Well there isn't really much to do in Minecraft >_> it is sort of exagerated right now.

I am only trying to get it so I have it before it actually gets decent... rather then its current form as an alternate version of MySims

The whole point, as I see it, is that it's a sandbox. Either you are able to invent goals for yourself or not. Some people don't get it. Don't hatea the game, hatea your self.

I like MySims

I just realise that the game right now is sort of a LOT like MySims

and by a LOT I mean... Wow it is like playing MySims.

Dang I wish I bought MySims instead of that not very good MySims Kingdoms that I mistaken for a partial sequel (it is a rather poor puzzle game)

Anyhow from what I understand Lanterns are just Torches except tougher to make basically making you incapable of stopping creatures from spawning within your first few days. (he also said from what I heard that all current torches will transform into lanterns)

actually, you can get a similar waterladder effect from a diagonal wall with water on one side.

that thing about nothing travelling through corners isn't quite true.
